Hi I'm Colt.

I'm a high school band director, a husband, and an avid outdoorsman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Music shapes who I am. It began when my father taught me how to play the accordion at the age of 7. I fell in love with music and gained a love for sharing it with others. After attending the University of South Carolina for music education, I became a band director. I teach at a low income high school where the challenges are great, but the rewards are greater. My wife and I have a modern day romance; we met online and dated via webcam. We are now happily married. We enjoy spending time with each other while planning our eternal future together. I enjoy helping others. I gain satisfaction from working on cars, woodworking, landscaping, and completing various household projects. The outdoors act as my sanctuary. I enjoying gardening, running, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, playing tennis, and soaking in the majestic atmosphere.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Latter-Day Saint. My parents converted after marriage, as they sought out a church to raise a family in. Through the years, I leaned heavily on my parents' teachings and examples. As I grew older, I found these principles to be true as they lead to happiness in my own life. I know that our Heavenly Father cherishes each one his children and has provided a way for us to return to live with him. Through repentance, a desire to improve ourselves, and the grace of God, we have the opportunity to spend eternities with the ones we love. Emphasis on family is the most important aspect of my faith. I know that I have the opportunity to be with my family forever. I recently lost my father, my best friend, to a battle of cancer. I am confident that through modeling my life after the Savior and enduring to the end, I will be able to spend time with him again. (Maybe we can play a little accordion too.)

How I live my faith

I am the secretary in the Young Men's program for the Seneca Ward. I sincerely enjoy working with the youth while seeing them progress through scouting and life. I strive my best to lead by example and to live my faith in an open manner. I keep a Book of Mormon in my office in hopes that it will lead to discussion about the gospel.
