Hi I'm Kay

I'm a Mormon. I am a wife and mother.

About Me

I have been married for over 18 years. I have no doubt that Heavenly Father had our family put together in the pre-existence. He loves his children and myself with all he has. He is a man of extraordinary faith. However he is not a member of the Church. When we met and married I was not active. I had been born and raised in the Church and fallen away from my faith. I gravitated to his faith, when we married, however when we had children I had a crisis of faith. How could I raise my own children if I was unsure of my own faith? How could I teach them what they should know and understand if I was not sure myself? I had to do some serious soul searching. I had to find my own testimony. When I had it was scary to go to my husband and tell him, I prayed for a long time, he was so very supportive. There was a lot to talk about though. He was not on the same belief system YET. After much discussion we decided to not confuse the children with 2 denominations at such young ages, so we attended his church. He supported my faith and agreed to let the children ask questions and decided when they were old enough to understand. Our children are growing up. I became very sick this summer and turned my faith to get through it, which caused questions, about why things were different "Mom's Church." "Why does they 'blessing make her fell better.'" My family is now investigating the church and I am praying for my family to one day has the blessings of the temple to be an eternal family.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Joseph Smith asked with surety of faith which church he was to join in the Sacred Grove that beautiful morning. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him and told him not to join any of them. He was told by them that he was to restore the one true gospel. Later he was shown the Plates of Brass. He translated the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ. This was not always so clear to me it was when I was young. Then I was unsure as a teen and young adult. But when I saw my children growing up, my husband and I growing older, it was then I realized that I was truly meant to be with them for time and all eternity suddenly it all made sense. The gospel must be true for this is the only way, the only church that said families are forever. I started to read the Book of Mormon like Joseph Smith did, though I did not see the same vision he did I did receive the same undeniable answer. The church is true, every once of my being knew it was true. I know if you will ask if with the same fervor you will receive the same answer. I say this in the Name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in small ways. My family is still learning. They are still trying to understand if the gospel is true. Therefore I show them by living the basics which is really no different than they are used to. We are just adding a The Book of Mormon to our scripture study. I am still getting my own feet back on the ground. I read my scriptures daily; I am working on scripture memorization and helping my family understand what they are learning. I attend Church weekly and try to make sure that the children get to their weekly activities, they are not always excited but they are getting to know friends so things are beginning to get easier. I talk with my Bishop (my congregation leader) monthly, or any other time I feel I need it, to help me make sure I am doing the things I need to do to stay active and if there is any way he or the other congregation leaders can help us. I am so thankful for this and the loving missionaries that we have. They are here every time we need help or the family has questions that I can not answer properly.
