Hi I'm Michelle

A native of the Pacific Northwest, I enjoyed my time at Uni., and now I live & work in Seattle as an audiologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello and thanks for reading my profile. Let me introduce myself. I live and work in Seattle, WA, as an audiologist (we are the hearing testing people). My time at work is spent in a large hospital where there are many opportunities to teach, serve others, and show compassion. At home it’s just me, myself, and I. However, church offers many social opportunities as well as faith-building experiences. Aside from being a church-goer, I also enjoy being a sister, aunt, daughter, granddaughter, teacher, and friend. I spent five years just after University working in New Zealand, which broadened my horizons and gave me many wonderful experiences. When not busy working or traveling, I enjoy music, the arts, and making books

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a family with a wonderful heritage of activity and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As such, I was baptized (which made me an official member of the church) as soon as I was old enough (at the age of 8). Of course I didn’t know everything about church membership when I was eight, but my baptism was the formal start to a path of faith. By being baptized, and continuing to actively seek religious truth, I have better come to understand the mission and love of Jesus Christ. This brings me closer to my Heavenly Father, and as such, I feel that I have a purpose and many blessings both in this life and beyond. These blessings, in part, help me to help others, so they can feel the same joy and fellowship that Christ so freely gave to others. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith, as a belief and value system, governs all my actions. I have the opportunity to develop and practice various virtues such as: honesty, integrity, modesty, chastity, and forgiveness. I want to think, say, and do, what is right. That concept and understanding of “right” comes from my faith. When applied correctly, these principles help myself and others to better feel the love of God. There are many ways to serve and participate at church. The most common is attending church meetings on Sunday. My favorite is helping to teach Sunday lessons, or to help direct the music at church. My particular congregation has a volunteer choir, which I enjoy singing in.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Reading the holy scriptures helps to focus the mind on holy things. Some scriptures are easier to understand than others, but they all hold a message that is applicable to life and its experiences. As such, examples and stories in the scriptures help show us what faith is. These example and stories also teach us how to conduct our lives in a way that is pleasing to God. However, The Bible and The Book of Mormon are more than just a collection of stories and examples designed to give us knowledge. They are a record – a historical record – preserved and recorded for our benefit. These holy words specifically teach of Christ and his ministry. They unfold the pattern of salvation, and offer multiple witnesses of this pattern throughout time. By reading the scriptures I can better understand God’s will, better feel his love, and better understand and find strength to live in a way that is righteous and fulfilling. The Bible and The Book of Mormon are my instruction manuals on life, and teach truths that offer me peace in both good and bad times. Show more Show less
