Hi I'm Stephen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Midwest and spent 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. After military service I became a Los Angeles policeman, spending most of the 25 years there as a motorcycle cop. My wife, Nancy, and I have been married for 47 years and are parents of three sons who have blessed us with 14 grandchildren. After retiring from police service Nancy and I have had the opportunity to serve as missionaries for the Church in several different places. Life has been very exciting!

Why I am a Mormon

After avoiding contact with Mormon missionaries for several years I found myself face to face with two of them on my front porch. I accepted their invitation and within a short time they were teaching us about their beliefs. As they taught my family and me about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I realized that the missionaries had truths that I had been searching for most of my life. As fantastic as some of the things they taught were, I could not deny the strong spiritual feelings I was having and I made the decision to be baptized. The day of our baptisms was the beginning of new life for me and my family. I was nervous and a little scared, but I knew that what we were doing was what God wanted for us and I have never regretted that decision.

How I live my faith

After my baptism, I quickly realized that this is not a spectator church. The Lord has provided many opportunities to serve others in His church. My wife and I have served as missionaries in Africa, Europe, and the United States. I have been responsible for leading a local congregation of church members and also working in two of the Church's temples. We were taught the law of tithing and the blessings that attend faithfully obeying that commandment, and have received countless blessings as a result. Daily prayer and scripture study have provided guidance and direction and have helped me stay rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
