Hi I'm Pate

I'm a mother of five. I like to read, analyze anything and ask lots of questions. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to have fun and make people laugh. I also like going below the surface of what is going on in a person's life to talk about real feelings and concerns. What do people really think about things and how are they really feeling? I'm honestly interested. I am a mother of 5 great kids. I love being a mom and all that I learn from being one. I'm a better person because of them. I think that because of the great person my husband is, I am more fully able to be who I am. He's awesome! We have a great life. I wish I had more time for gardening, urban farming (chickens!), and reading great books. Right now, however, I just do what I can. I imagine a great future someday that involves doing more of all those things.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church before they were married. I was raised having the church always a part of my life. It was a good life. In my family we had plenty of life lessons to learn while growing up, but I feel like being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints gave me a foundation in Jesus Christ during those years when I was just trying to figure everything out. Who was I really? Could I pretend to be good and that be enough to change me into something good? I hardly knew what questions to ask. But being a member I found that the questions came one at a time and the truth that I had been seeking came too. I believe when I grew older and the foundation became my own, the gospel has been my guide for a greater discipleship of Jesus Christ. I have new questions and new answers that still come. It is exciting and I feel extremely grateful to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith plays out in a hundred choices I make everyday. I know I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father and that he loves me and all His children and that Jesus Christ is the example I am to follow. My faith is the action of that belief. I made a goal to be more involved with people of all faiths to serve my community. I joined our children's school Parent/Teacher organization and work with great women and men of all lifestyles and faiths with fundraising, dances, teacher appreciation and whatever else can help make the school a great place for the students and those that work there. It has been very rewarding and I love the people that I have met by becoming more involved. I am a Cub Scout leader for young boys between the ages of 8-9. They are so funny and I love to see them develop character, respect for our country, and respect for God. On Sunday I teach the little children ages 18 months to 3 years. They are so precious and fun. They grow and change so much in the time they are in our class. It makes each moment we have with them so amazing. My faith is lived out in everything I do. Some things being outward and noticeable, but mostly it is in little ways, seemingly small choices that I make, that my faith is strengthened a little at a time.
