Hi I'm James

I'm a Mormon. Im a California Boy. I love My Savior and my Family.

About Me

I grew up in a small home, but a big family. I have 6 other brothers and 3 sisters. Each of us are so different but thats part the fun. I am actually the youngest in my family. When I was about 6, my eldest brother went on his mission. It was at that point I found out what a mission was. For the last 19 years, I have seen all my brothers serve missions and i am currently serving my own. My father is a convert to the church and he also served a mission. My mother was born and raised in the church. None of my sisters served missions but they are the best sisters I could ever ask for. I grew up in California all my life. I developed a skill for music and started to play the piano. Eventually I worked my way to other instruments such as drums, guitar, and trumpet. I am a sport goer- and anytime out playing a sport is worth it. I especially I like surfing and volleyball. Im an eagle Scout and strong believer in preparation.

Why I am a Mormon

Im a mormon because my family. I can not ask for a greater or grander family. When I was younger I went to church because I was forced to go. For a long time it was hard for me to go and be steadfast. Once I became a youth, I made choices that were not good and I went pretty far in the wrong direction. But I never was lost, because my family was always there. I honestly had no connection to the Gospel of Jesus Christ let alone my Savior until I was sixteen. It was a normal day, but at the same time it wasnt. I went and visited the temple this afternoon. I was reading in 1Juan4. I had done this process of searching the scriptures thousands of times before. But something clicked. We are here, because our Heavenly Father LOVES us. Every struggle we have, challenge, and discouragement is because we have a loving Heavenly Father. He created a plan of Happiness for us. We all have families because in the family unit, we experience the most growth, joy, and learning. The central part of my true love for the Gospel is in The Atonement of Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father sent his Beloved Son to Earth, to suffer and die, so that we dont ever have to stand alone or walk to Calvary ourselves. Jesus stood in our behalf, bled in our behalf, and died in our behalf. When I think about Charity, Im amazed. Charity is the Pure Love of Christ. I am eternally thankful for my Savior Jesus Christ. My family is my reason to live a better life, work longer, and strive to be more like Christ. Christ states in so many verses- "Be not afraid".."Be of Good Cheer".. "I am with you". The Book of Mormon has been the key of my conversion. Without it, I would not know of the blessings of the Atonement for everyone. We are never alone and we always have a hope. I know families can be together forever. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored through Joseph Smith and a living Prophet leads the church today.

How I live my faith

I am currently a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in the Illinois Chicago spanish speaking mission. Before I was a teacher for children and Loved it. I am an Eagle scout and through the program and the Church, I have done multiple service projects for the community. Service with my hands is my favorite thing to do! I love service and when I can, I search for opportunities to serve. I use to be a home teacher before the mission. As a home teacher, I would visit families and dedicate time and service to make sure they were happy and strong in the Gospel. I live my Faith by walking in Faith.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jesus performed the atonement because without it, we have no hope. The demands of Justice required so much more than we can give. The blessing of the Atonement is that because Christ Died, we can return back to Heavenly Father's presence. Christ broke the bands of death through his own death and defeat over the chains of Death. This is significant because Heavenly Father has a body of flesh and bones, and if we were to die and never return back to his presence again with a body, we couldnt experience the same blessings as he has, which is the purpose of life, to obtain a body and progress. The Suffering of Christ is a blessing because, we can be cleansed from sin. Sin is a Violation or contrary to Justice. God lives by justice and part of the natural law is that no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God. Sin makes us unclean. Justice would automatically take away our opportunity of living in Eternal Families, if it were not for the Atonement. The Atonement Satisfies the demands of Justice. Mercy is offered to all those that live the merits given to us by Jesus Christ. "..this is the way; and there is none other.." 2Nephi31:21. The Restored Gospel is so necessary, because through it, we can access the full power of the Atonement and all the blessings that are there. Christ was perfect. He was the Divine son of God on the Earth. Because he never violated the Law or Justice, he could offer his life for us. He willingly suffered all, so that we dont have to walk alone.
