Hi I'm Kara

I grew up in PA. I love my church, family, and friends. I love teaching children. I love shopping and having fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and I work with children. I love my church, family, and friends. I grew up a Latter-Day Saint, but I was not always 100% active. My dad is not a member of our church, but honestly, that has never impacted how I have felt about our church. My dad, even though he is not the best example at times, is my dad and I love him. I will say that there was a point in my life where I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep going to church. But, I came to the realization that I need to do what is best for me and our Heavenly Father, only. Not to please others. A little before 2012, I was given the calling at my ward to be Ward Young Single Adult (YSA) Representative. Honestly, that calling has changed my life in many ways. I cannot describe the blessings I have received from our Heavenly Father. I cannot believe that I have ever lived my life any differently.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that our restored gospel is true. I believe that Joseph Smith was our prophet who acted as the Lord's mouthpiece to help restore our gospel. I also believe that President Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today, on Earth. When I was younger, I never doubted the Book of Mormon. I never understood our gospel fully, though. It was not until a year ago, upon reading and understanding the Book of Mormon to my fullest capability, that I recieved a firm testimony of it. The feeling of the Spirit is so strong when I read my scriptures. I cannot describe the happiness, love, comfort, and joy I feel when I read. I never want to stop. I would testify that, when you read the Book of Mormon and pray about it, you will know that it is true. You will know.

How I live my faith

I live my faith like a normal, everyday person lives their faith. I read my scriptures daily, even if it is just a couple verses. I pray all day long to our Heavenly Father asking for guidance for myself, my family, my friends, and whoever else is on my mind that day. I plan events for my ward's Young Single Adults (YSA), as a part of my ward's calling as Ward YSA Representative. I participate in as many church events as I possibly can. I go to church every Sunday to participate in sacrament, Sunday school, and Relief Society. I also go to the temple often to perform baptisms for the dead. Other ways I live my faith would be by living the Word of Wisdom. I will say, I am not a perfect person. I do falter in some things. When that happens though, I pray to have the strength to overcome any issues that I may be having a hard time with.

Are Mormons Christians?

Mormons are most definitely Christians. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Book of Mormon, like the Old Testament and New Testament, is another testament of Jesus Christ, in the latter-days. Being a church of Jesus the Christ, we believe that He is our Lord and Savior. He is the only begotten son of our Heavenly Father. He sacrificed his life, bled through every pore, endured all of our pain and suffering, so that we may be saved. One day, we will have the opportunity to be with Him and our Heavenly Father again. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we are able to live and experience joy. Show more Show less
