Hi I'm Richard

I served a full-time mission in St. Louis. I like to write fantasy stories. I love to sing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and grew up in Utah. I'm the sixth of seven siblings. A love of books was instilled in me from a young age by my parents. I read voraciously, and I found out in twelfth grade that I enjoy writing as well. I have also always loved reading the scriptures, which has helped me immeasurably throughout my life. I play a fair amount of video games, board games and card games. I also enjoy Dungeons and Dragons style role-playing games. Anything that allows me to enjoy the company of friends and family and enjoy time with them. I also love music. I began playing the cello in Sixth grade, switching to it from the violin. I love Classical music, and due to urging from my older siblings, I also began doing Theater and Choir. I sing low bass so as to match the instrument I play, and I've played such memorable roles as The Bartender from "Beauty and the Beast," The Drunk Character from "Guys and Dolls," and The Crazy Old Man from "The Lottery." However, by far my favorite role was Thaddeus, (One of the Twelve apostles), in "Savior of the World." I currently attend Utah State University, where I'm studying English. I loved my mission in St. Louis and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I love the Gospel. That's the simplest and truest reason. However, I suppose I can expand on that. I was born into the church and have since learned for myself of its truthfulness. My parents and older siblings were always a wonderful example to me, but when I was about 14, I realized that I didn't have as strong a testimony as they did. I took to time to diligently study the Book of Mormon, and then prayed to my Heavenly Father to know whether all of these things I believed were true. The answer I received was that they were, and that this was the path that led to true happiness. I have seen the amazing impact the Gospel has on the lives of those who live its teachings, and I have felt the love of Jesus Christ in my life.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving a mission for the Church. I am leaving everything else behind to serve the Lord and bring people to the church for two years. I also strive to keep all of the commandments and do as the Prophet directs. I look for opportunities to serve others in any way I can. Before leaving to serve, I was an instructor who taught one of the church classes about once a month. I prepared these lessons from a manual released by the leaders of the church.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Richard
I absolutely love the Bible. It has amazing truths and stories, and gives us unmatchable knowledge of Christ's life and ministry. It can help us in every aspect of our lives. I believe that the Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand in hand to increase my faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, and neither without the other is complete. Show more Show less
