Hi I'm Devyn Smith

I'm an Idahoan. I love potatoes and airplanes. I am a missionary in France and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am serving my mission in Paris, France. I left in April 2013 and will serve until March 2015. I was previously a student at Brigham Young University - Idaho. I am an Eagle scout. I have participated in different leadership organizations for schools, scouting, church and other organizations. I am an avid runner, and also enjoy swimming, tennis, golf, volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, flying and spending time with friends and family. I love making and editing short films, commercials and movies for many purposes: entertainment, sharing a message, or assignments. I believe that overall, everything I enjoy doing, I do with a passion and that makes me unique. Most importantly, friends and family mean the world to me and I love to spend time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the happiness, joy and comfort I receive from the church. I know that my Savior lives, that He loves me and that He died for me and was resurrected so that we may live again. I know that the Book of Mormon is true because I've read it for myself - not because somebody told me it was true. I know that Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet of God and that he came to the Earth and, under the direction of our master and Heavenly messengers, helped in the bringing forth of the Book of Mormon and Christ's church in the latter days. I know that the Bible is the word of God and it, with the Book of Mormon testify of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that we have living prophets and apostles on the Earth today, who have been called of God through revelation and by the authority of the His priesthood. I know that God answers our prayers. He has answered mine, every one. Sometimes I don't at first recognize that He is answering my prayers, and at times, the answer is different than what I, myself, might prefer, but I know He answers them, and that, through my faith in Him, as I follow the promptings and guidance from Him I am blessed and comforted. I know He lives and that He loves us. These are things that I know - not things I merely believe. I know these to be true. It is the comfort and blessings and joy I receive from these truths that is the reason why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by preparing to and serving as a missionary for the church. In doing so, my goal is to share with others the joy and happiness I have by knowing what I know, and being a Mormon. I live my faith by visiting the Mormon temple and following the counsel of our living prophet. I have also helped in different capacities in the church. I have been president and leaders in my different groups of young men. I have also been asked to help by being a photographer for different events, a participant in the planning of youth dances, camps and other activities. I have directed the lighting and sound for different musical productions we have put together. Most importantly, I strive to live my faith by my day-to-day actions. In doing so, I seek to become more like my Savior in every aspect and characteristic. I strive to live my life in such a way that would make my parents, my family, my friends, and my Savior proud of me. I do this by the small and simply actions and choices I make every day.
