Hi I'm Laura

I grew up in Oregon, USA. I'm a military wife and stay at home mom with a special needs son. I'm a convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost I'm a wife and mother. We just have one little boy right now, who has special needs, but are looking forward to growing our family soon--maybe 4 or 5 more children. I was baptized when I was 15, graduated from BYU with a degree in Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation at 22, and was married in the Portland Temple later that summer. I love traveling, cooking, going to the zoo, gardening, and hanging out with my boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I received a personal testimony of the Book of Mormon through prayer and study. I also received a testimony of the Plan of Salvation. When I was 15, 2 amazing sister missionaries taught me about the gospel after only hearing bits and pieces from my grandparents who planted the seed. My mom had been inactive for 20 years, and fortunately, she came back when I was baptized. I've learned that through faith, service, and sacrifice you can be happy through all your trials. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I attend church meetings every Sunday, as long as my health allows me. At least 2 Sundays a month, I teach 6-7 year olds about the Gospel and how much Jesus and Heavenly Father love them. I participate in other meetings, not on Sunday, where women of the church come together to learn new skills and develop their talents. We pay our tithes and offerings, give of our time and substance whenever we can, and feed the missionaries at least once a month. Most importantly, I try to be kind to everyone I meet, read at least one scripture a day, and pray often.
