Hi I'm Helen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mother of 5 children and 6 grand children. I worked as a registered nurse for 18 years mainly in intensive care and coronary care. In recent times I was the primary carer for my mother. I love sewing, cooking, camping, cake decorating, reading and family history research. I also love to travel.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Mormon church when I was a new born baby, so I have been raised as a Mormon. I grew up with many friends of other faiths and enjoyed discussing beliefs with them and recognise that all religions have good beliefs and values. Over the years, I have prayed about the truthfulness of my beliefs and each time have felt a feeling of peace, that this is right. I know I am a daughter of God, and that he hears and answers my prayers. I love reading the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I love learning of the Savior.

How I live my faith

For the last 18 months I've been working with my husband as missionary group leaders in the Addiction Recovery Program. This program runs along the same lines as Alcoholics Anonymous and is designed to help people overcome and find addictions and destructive behaviors through turning our lives over to God. Through the program participants can find hope and healing for themselves. It's been an amazing experience to work with those who have come and to see them, find hope and joy in life again. In a few weeks time my husband and I will be finishing working in this program and embarking in full-time missionary work for our church in London England. We will be serving there for 18 months. We are as excited to have to opportunity to serve others in this new capacity as we have been in our present one. Being able to help people come to know God and Christ and to see them change because of the knowledge that God knows them and loves them is a privilege, it's something I have come to know and something's want to share with others.
