Hi I'm Kindia

Born in South Africa, raised in Wisconsin, missionary in Thailand. I love art, books, nature, and people. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a lover of life. I love a lot of things. Music, Art, Nature, People, Travel, Books. I come from a multicultural household where my mom is from small town USA and my dad is from South Africa. Grew up on fairy houses, pet tadpoles and baby birds, classical music, hours of drawing and art projects, books and more books, road trips and layovers, fruit and rooibos tea, three younger sisters and all the adventure that comes with that, Lake Michigan, mountains and trees. I'm studying to become an artist and have a goal to have hiked to the top of every mountain possible in the area by the time I graduate. In the mean time I've been called to serve as a missionary in the Thailand Bangkok Mission. I so humbled by and thrilled for the opportunity to serve my Heavenly Father by loving and serving people. That is what a mission is about: learning to love people the way Christ does.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because life is the best thing that ever happened to anyone and this Gospel helps me realize it. This is the true gospel of Christ and I know it. The soul is made up of the body and the spirit together. I feel that as I come to know things spiritually I begin to know them physically Touch, sight, smell, hearing, taste. What I feel, what I experience spiritually and physically is a testimony to what I feel spiritually. I recognize God in the world around me by what it is. Just because it is, I know there is a God. In all that I sense: the smell of grass in the sun; the exhilaration of a gust of wind at the lake before a storm; the singing soul, body and spirit, embodied in music; the overwhelming wonder of a cathedral in Germany, the quiet satisfaction of a good book and an hour to enjoy it; the sweet slur of one long note on the cello; the spiritual quiet of a particular verse of scripture or faith of a friend that invokes tears of gratitude. Living, how we live, is a testimony of God. By living I come to know Christ.

How I live my faith

How we live represents what we believe. If we live with a testimony of Christ we strive to live the way He did. Everything He lived and died for was for other people. One of my favorite scriptures describes it this way: "He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation." (2 Nephi 26:24) I try to live so that others will want to know Christ because they know me. As a missionary, I have the priviledge to work for the same purpose as Christ: to bring others unto Him. We come unto Him by accepting the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, changing our lives to follow Him, making promises with Him to follow Him, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost as Comforter and Guide, and continuing to follow Him in all aspects of life.
