Hi I'm John Anderson

I was born in Utah but raised on a cattle ranch in Montana. I grew up with parents who loved to live like the Savior. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a father of 5 and a grand father of 11. I have traveled to many different countries of the world and enjoy different cultures. I served a mission for the Church in Finland. Strangely, I enjoy farming as a hobby although my profession is in the oil and gas industry. Helping people daily brings me peace and happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church. Both my father and my mothers families were early Church converts who traveled to Utah with some of the hand cart pioneers. Although being raised in the Church one would feel I had a burning testimony deep inside my being. However it wasn't until I was called to serve as a missionary for the Church that I realized I had to know for myself. I always had a desire to follow the Savior, but it wasn't until I sat in my aprtment one cold January evening that I realized I had to gain my own testimony. Through much study and prayer my testimony came, not all at once but gradually until I knew Jesus had restored His priesthood and organization with its incumbent ordinances to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Great revelations about life were received by study and prayer relative to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. This book was divinely translated and with that knowledge, I have been able to receive much comfort in my life in times of great hardship and trials. I especially love reading about the Savior's visit to this continent in 3 Nephi. I recommend this reading to everyone who wants to feel closer to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have served in almost every calling in the Church. I have served as a bishop, who presides over one congregation, a stake president, who presides over many congregations and Seventy who assists the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in managing the affairs of the Church worldwide. All of these leadership positions have brought me much joy as I worked closely with the membership of the Church. What is bringing me the most joy now is serving in my ward missionary program. No greater experience can be enjoyed than to work with these young, energetic young men and women who have dedicated 2 years of their lives to serve the Lord full time. It is a joy to be a small part of investigators lives as they are re-taught doctrines and principles we were taught by our Heavenly parents so long ago. Because of the state of mortality we are all experiencing, have forgotten these teachings or their remembrance withheld from us. Our Heavenly father wishes for all His children to return to dwell in His presence. It is through participating in the saving ordinances of the gospel that this event can occur. I am engaged in assisting as many of Heavenly Father's children return to Him as I can. This is why I live my faith.
