Hi I'm Anita

I grew up in Indiana. I'm a singer/songwriter. My husband and I have 5 children and own a business. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Indiana. I competed in gymnastics in high school and loved music. I have been married for 30 years and have 5 children with my husband, Jim. We also have co-owned a very successful business since 1987. I started song-writing in 1991 and have written and recorded many songs since then. I have written songs for the military, police, volunteers, family members and just for fun. I love singing, playing guitar and piano, performing and recording my original music. I have always wanted to make a difference in the world, and have found the ability to do that through music. I graduated from a technical school with an Associate degree in Business Science and am the Office Manager of our business. I love reading and learning and strive to be a better person every day. I am very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and presently serve by teaching music to the children.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 19, I began a journey of searching for the "right" church. I always attended a Protestant church growing up, but became very discouraged when the minister retired. The next minister had some questionable ideas and sermons that caused me to question what was being taught. I began checking out other churches and questioning their beliefs. I discovered a lot about myself in this quest for "the truth" and a lot about other churches as well. I prayed that "if there was a TRUE church, that I would FIND it". I met a friend of my brother's who was a Mormon. I didn't know what Mormons believed, but he presented me with a Book of Mormon and told me about his church. I met with the missionaries and found that every one of my questions was answered concerning where I came from, why I'm here, and where I'm going. I was very happy that I had found the answers and my Heavenly Father had lead me to "the truth". I can relate to Joseph Smith in the fact that he was looking for the "right" church and so was I. I had found it so, in June of 1977, I was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have had many personal revelations over the years that have reaffirmed my faith that this is the "true and right" church. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet who was lead to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth and that we continue to be lead by a prophet today. I'm so grateful for my membership through the good times and the bad. The church has not made my life easier or taken away my trials, but I know that I have a true and strong foundation on which to build my life and faith.

How I live my faith

I have served in the church in many different capacities. I have served as a Sunday school teacher, a choir director, a teacher in the women's organization, a Primary teacher, an activities chairman, and presently serve as the music director in the children's Primary organization. These "callings" as we call them, are temporary in the fact that we stay in them as long as we are needed or until we are "called" to serve in a different capacity within the church. I love to teach and serve. I have also always served as a Visiting Teacher. That is a calling that gives women the opportunity to watch over a few of the "sisters" and visit or help them at least once a month. I have developed some very loving and lifelong friendships in this capacity. I also live my faith by trying to pray every day, read the scriptures, and share the gospel with others who are also searching for the "truth".

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

I have received many personal answers to my prayers over the many years I have been a member of this church. The Holy Ghost has testified to me of truth and helped me to see truth from error. I have also received personal direction regarding events of my life and the lives of my children. I am so grateful for the Gift of the Holy Ghost who has been my companion. When I am listening, and living my life in such a way to receive direction, it is always there and leads my in the right direction. The Holy Ghost first revealed to me that The Book of Mormon is the word of God when I was investigating the church. He continues to tell me through that "still, small voice" things that give me great inspiration and increase my faith. Show more Show less
