Hi I'm Bob Bernard

I grew up in Boston, Mass., served in the military for 27 years, have retired and live in Rhode Island. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Most of my adult life was serving our country in the Air Force and Army. I had many occupations, from operating High Pressure Boiler Plants, to running Dining Facilities here and abroad. Also Electronic countermeasures on jet aircraft, and 13 years as an Army recruiter. I have enjoyed singing in Barbershop Quartets and Choruses. I also enjoy Genealogy and searching for past generations of family members. My wife and I are great grandparents.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always believed that god still speaks to people through his Holy Spirit, and that there are guardian angels watching over us and that miracles still happen every day. I believe in revelation for myself and family, and that the leaders of the LDS church receive revelation for the entire world by virtue of the authority of the priesthood. I believe that my time on earth is to be used to learn all I can, and find opportunities to help others.

How I live my faith

In almost 40 years of church callings, I have learned how to serve others. My wife and I have worked with an addiction recovery program for many years. We visit widows and families, to teach and to learn, and to help with strengthening them spiritually. I also help the bishop of our ward by scheduling Sacrament and other meetings every third month. I preside over youth groups and Sunday School classes, and assist with helping members with financial, employment , or spiritual needs. It is a labor of love. Seniority of position or calling only means that you are more humble and strive to do a little more for others. It is exactly the way the Lord wants people in his church to live. There is no paid ministry. All callings are voluntary. We do it to serve and show our faithfulness to Heavenly Father in thanks for the sacrifice of his son, Jesus Christ. My life is full. I am happy. It is being inspired by great leaders and is the way life should be lived.
