Hi I'm Elder Jonathon Yukon

I'm a Christian... I'm a Mormon... same thing =)

About Me

Things I love include: family/friends skate/snowboarding soccer, billiards, and ping pong music camping/mountains sitting around a fire looking at a sky littered with stars I grew up in Alaska and Washington. I served a mission in the Texas Houston East Mission; I love the people of Texas!! I live for adventures and seeing new places. Throughout my experiences in life I believe we are who we choose to be, and I try to be someone people can trust. I find trust to be a rare attribute for a person to have in this world. I want to enjoy the life our Heavenly Father has given me, and living this way helps me to do that. I believe the purpose of our Earth life is to obtain wisdom that will prepare us for eternal life. Wisdom is knowledge correctly applied and is something everyone should strive to obtain. It can only be gained through experience. I love trying new things and taking the opportunity to learn from experience!! =) Overall, I’m a pretty simple person, and try to be optimistic. Most importantly I have a testimony that Jesus CHRIST is my Savior and that He wants not just me but all of us to be happy, so I try to share that happiness I have with those around me.

Why I am a Mormon

That’s simple, this church is true. It's the only church that teaches the undefiled doctrine of CHRIST and has the Priesthood authority to perform all the necessary ordinances that allow us to make it back to the presence of our Father in Heaven. People get so hung up on labels when it comes to religion and don’t pay enough attention to the doctrine they teach. Are you a Baptist? Catholic? Methodist? Pentecostal? I don’t like to focus so much on the label of "Mormon" but rather consider myself a Christian and a member of the true Church of Jesus CHRIST. It just so happens that people call us Mormon's. The church’s standards come from God and it is how He wants us to live. The Holy Ghost testified to me that this is CHRIST’s one and only true church, in a way that I cannot and will not ever deny it. The truth and wisdom of God is so much greater than the "knowledge" of man, and He offers it to anyone that is willing to ask and listen. I still have a LOT I need to learn but I'm okay with that. I’ve found that for every question I get an answer to a multiple of new questions follow it, so I just try my best to live up to the standard set by CHRIST from knowledge that I do have, and I know that God will continue lead me in the right direction... Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

How I live my faith

Faithfully. =D

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Elder Jonathon Yukon
Depends on what you mean by mission... Are all members of the church "required" to serve a 1.5 to 2 year mission in another state or country? No, it’s voluntary. Although as children of our Heavenly Father, and having chosen to come to earth, we agreed to and are all expected to share His Gospel with our brothers and sisters on a daily basis... so isn't earth life in general a mission... "Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.” -Francis of Assisi A full-time mission for the Church of Jesus CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints is the greatest thing a young person could do. Not only does it give direction and teach you everything you need to be successful in life, it is the best way to build a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus CHRIST and truly understand our purpose in life. Having experienced one, I would say it would be foolish to not go on a mission. =) Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Elder Jonathon Yukon
We all make mistakes in this life. These mistakes create feelings of guilt and shame. They cannot be relieved without repentance and forgiveness. They can be fully healed through the Atonement of CHRIST. Show more Show less
