Hi I'm Linda

I'm a happy wife and mama. I'm a writer. Science and the arts make me real excited. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

My whole life, I wanted to be a writer while raising and homeschooling a family. Miraculously, that dream has come true! My husband's in law school, our son is a toddler, and we have a baby girl. I'm so grateful that I get to be with my children and get to do the work I love, too. As a writer, I focus on picture books, but poetry, novels, and short stories wiggle their way in too. I majored in biology for undergrad, and I strive to create fun science picture books for kids--especially girls. Gotta get beyond the masculine and nerdy stereotypes about the sweet world of science! I'm passionate about being informed and educated, and I blog about a variety of issues dealing with womanhood, marriage, science, family, faith and whatever sets my mind spinning. When my busy man has time away from school, we love to read out loud together, catch quality cinema, get out in nature, and savor tasty foods!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the LDS church in northern Virginia. There were less than 5 LDS students in my high school of 4,000, so my teenage years were a great time to grow into my faith. My parents taught me a lot, but when I started to study the gospel myself, I truly gained my own testimony of Jesus Christ, his Atonement, and the restoration. Going to college, getting married, and becoming a mother have given me countless chances to come closer to Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I always marvel at how different it is being an adult (albeit a young one!) in the church as opposed to being a youth. There's always new things to learn and new people to meet! I get to teach lessons about different gospel topics like Heavenly Father's plan, the creation, and families. I also love getting to know people of other faiths. My best friend is Buddhist, and I'm happy to know Muslims, Jews, Catholics, and many other Christians as well. Every religion has truth, but I know that Heavenly Father still speaks to a prophet and apostles today, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His complete and restored church here on the earth.
