Hi I'm Michelle (Demke) Bliss

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-- common nickname, "Mormon."

About Me

I feel like I am still twenty, although I am actually getting closer to 30 now! I grew up in a larger family-- Mom and Dad, 6 sisters ( 1 being adopted later on), and 2 brothers. Growing up in a large family had its challenges since my Dad is a High School teacher and my mom stayed home to be able to take care of all of us. We did not live extravagantly knowing that money was tight and needed for the absolute necessities. But, through the challenges and sacrifices, we have always had our home, food to eat, dinner together around the table, and family prayer together every morning and every night (no exaggeration). My parents were the example to me of what it means to be Christian-- following the example of the Lord Jesus Christ to serve and help those in need, extending love always even in the most exhausted times, and sacrifice for the benefit of us, our neighbors, community, and strangers showing need. I will be forever grateful for their love and example especially as now I am married to a wonderful man with the same standards, values and goals that my parents showed and taught me through their marriage and family life. I look forward to bringing children into this world to provide for them the opportunities that we have received through loving, righteous, faithful parents. We love to spend our time visiting our families now; going on dates; being with our dog; making home improvements; walks and hikes; fishing; reading and studying together; and preparing.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many reasons..... First, I was taught in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ being taught from the Holy Scriptures of which I know-- The Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine and Covenants. As I grew up going to church and receiving lessons, I recall being 11 years old and my Sunday School Teacher invited us to read a certain chapter from The Book of Mormon expounding the personal visitation of Jesus Christ after His Resurrection to the people inhabiting the Americas at that time. My teacher invited us to go home and read this chapter and then to get on our knees and pray to know from God our Heavenly Father that this truly happened. I struggled to understand all the verses, but what I did understand was that these people who were gathered around a Temple heard the voice of God 3 times and felt pierced in their hearts as His voice came to them from Heaven- He was introducing His Son Jesus Christ. Then I understood that the people looked up to see what they though was an Angel bright and glorious, but as He spoke to them He testified of His Divinity as the Only Begotten Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He had finished the work of the Father being slain for the sins of the world and rose up again....He then let each person see and touch the prints on His hands and feet, and as they did so they wept. As I commenced to finish the seciton of reading I understood very little more than this, but this I did understand. So, I scooted to my knees and began to ask my Heavenly Father to know for myself that His Son lives and came to these people as recorded in The Book of Mormon... as I poured out my young heart, overwhelming warmth encompassed my entire being, tears, came, and I felt closer to Him and His Son, Their reality knowing that my prayer was heard and I was known, and a peaceful, exciting, and comforting reassurance came into my heart.

How I live my faith

I have struggles everyday like anyone else (I assume) has in their everyday living and being. I want to be the best I can because I know that I am one of God's daughters and that He loves and knows each and every one of His children! I know that Jesus Christ sacrificed His whole-self for me and every one, so I know that I need to treat others with the best love and respect that I can-- especially in hopes that they too may know that they are KNOWN and LOVED eternally by our Loving, Gracious, Merciful, and True Father in Heaven and Lord Jesus Christ. I study and pray each day to be taught and reminded of the Gospel truths and the testimony that I have been given. I love to know that God has for us in our time and day Living Prophets and Apostles to teach and lead us in preparation of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I go to His Holy Temple often where I feel His peace and teachings to better myself and serve my fellow men as well as our deceased loved ones. I only hope that all of Gods Children may come to know as I know that His Son Lives- our Savior and Redeemer; that Families can be together forever; that Jesus Christ's Church is RESTORED to the earth and commenced through a chosen living prophet, even Joseph Smith, and that The Book of Mormon stands true and complete as another withness of The Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah-- and of His prophet Joseph Smith, and of His true Church on the earth! I love Him! And I am thankful to be a member of His Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
