Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a political staffer and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I live in southern California and am a District Representative for a State Senator. I love books, movies, animals, and traveling. I am a new convert to the church and was baptized and confirmed on Jan 15, 2012.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a city that has a strong LDS population so it was always something that had fascinated me. After graduating college I realized that I wasn't happy with the person I was, I wanted more from my life so I called up an old friend to ask if I could meet and have him answer questions about the church. I went to church with him the following weekend and met with the missionaries about a week after that. When I met with the missionaries I think I knew it was right for me, but I was so hesitant to make any quick decisions. So I took my time, read the Book of Mormon and prayed. I believed that the Book of Mormon was an additional testimate of Christ, I knew that Joseph Smith was a living prophet, but I still wasn't sure so I begun praying very hard to see if getting baptized was what the Lord wanted from me and as I was reading I stumbled upon a verse that spoke on baptism and I knew that it was exactly the answer from God to my prayers. I called my missionaries immediately and set up my date. Being a member of the church has saved and changed my life. I have never felt more happy and connect to our Heavenly Father then I do now. This is God's restored Church!

How I live my faith

I am the only person in my group of friends who is a member of the church so I live my faith by being an example to them. They can really see the difference it has made on my life and I hope that one day they will all come to find the truth and find what I have.
