Hi I'm Stephanie

I'm a Nurse and a stay at home Mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 2 young boys, with another boy on the way and I have super husband who likes to cook with me, how great is that!? I grew up in Florida, graduated High School in 2001, and then went to college at BYU - Utah for 2 1/2 years. My parents got divorced my last year of High School, so when I went to BYU my Mom moved up to Washington (state) to live near her family. I met my husband here in Washington when I was home from school for the summer. After about a year we were married in the Seattle Temple in 2004. I did nursing school here in WA, and my husband finished school for Engineering. We had our fist son in 2008 right before Shawn graduated and once done with school we moved close to Boeing where he got a job as an Engineer. I try to pick up a few days here and there at the hospital, but mostly, I'm a stay at home Mom, and find it the most fulfilling, yet difficult, job. I love the ocean... being on, near and under it. My husband and I love to SCUBA dive. I love the outdoors and enjoy the opportunities for camping and hiking Washington provides. Although... with young children a lot of these hobbies have been somewhat on hold for a while... but I look forward to the day the kids are old enough to enjoy them with us. I play the piano, love scrapbooking and card-making. I like Fantasy and Sci-fi books. I love whales and dolphins!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but it wasn't until about my Sophomore year of High School when I really prayed and searched to know if it was true. Once I got my answer, the feeling I had was so strong, that I have never doubted it since, and know I will ALWAYS know that it is Christ's church restored again to the earth with all the proper authority and priesthood. I KNOW it contains all the truths of the Gospel that our loving Father in Heaven wants us to have... to guide us in our earthly lives and give us the knowledge we need to return to him. He has given his children so much knowledge to tell them why they are here, what to do, and what comes after... but it's up to us to actually learn it, pray about it and learn for ourselves that it's true. What parent wouldn't guide their child to help them be happy? I just feel very blessed that I have the opportunity in this life to have the Gospel and take advantage of all the happiness, peace and blessings it provides.

How I live my faith

I am a youth leader in the Young Womens' program at our church. I am mainly over the 14 &15 year old girls. We meet on Sundays at church and have activities every Wednesday where we do anything from playing games, to sewing. We have fun and learn ways to develop Christlike qualities and solidify our standards. I also help coordinate Girls camp for our ward. Girls camp is a week every summer when all the girls from the stake (a combination of a bunch of wards in our area) go to camp and have fun while learning about the Gospel, standards, and strengthening their friendships with each other. It takes a lot of planning..... I love it!!!!

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Stephanie
If we were made to have different physical roles as Men and Women, why wouldn't we also have different spiritual roles? We must be different to compliment each other, and come together to make a whole. As a modern women in the church, I have NEVER felt 'oppressed' or 'lower' or 'unequal' to the men in the Church. I have a firm testimony that Heavenly Father has different roles for us to fulfill and that no ONE role is greater than another. Just different. They are equally important and must work together for the whole to function. Just like pieces of a clock that all have different functions but are all important to the clock working properly. Men and women have different roles in the Gospel. Women lead in the Relief Society and Young Women's organizations, as well as primary. There is order to everything our Heavenly Father does, and everything He does is done out of Love for us. I have faith that he has very good reasons for everything he does, and I don't need to know them. We are like toddlers... we can't understand all the things he does. It's like when my son asks why plants grow... he can't understand photosynthesis, so I say, water and sunshine make it grow. Heavenly Father gives us what we can comprehend. Sometimes we just need to understand that He loves us, and whatever he tells us is what we should do, even if we don't totally understand it. All we have to do is pray to know that it's right. He will always let us know if we ask. Show more Show less
