Hi I'm Jonathan

I was born and raised in British Columbia. My wife and I are university students. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for almost two years to my beautiful wife. We are undergraduate students studying different degrees at the same university. I am interested in becoming a counselor in order to help individuals succeed in their goals and I look to teach positive communication skills. I like to play the piano (although I am not very good) and I enjoy sketching and painting (about as good as I can play the piano... oh well, I'm getting better). I come from a family of four, of which am the second oldest.

Why I am a Mormon

The principles that I strive to live in my life are those of the Savior, Jesus Christ. I know I am not perfect and I fall short in hundreds of ways, but through the Gospel of Jesus Christ I know that I can overcome any obstacle or trial that my come in my life. I am a Mormon because I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the church that Christ established 2000 years ago. I am a member of this church because as I live according to the principles taught therein I can feel the love of my Savior Jesus Christ. I've prayed about the truthfulness of the gospel taught by the church and I know it to be true. There are many things that I don't know, but I do know that God loves me and He sent His Son to prepare a way that I can get back to Him.

How I live my faith

As a member of the church I have been given a responsibility (a calling) to teach, advise and counsel the young men in our congregation. In general, every Sunday I teach a gospel lesson to young men ages 14-16. Lessons include gospel topics (prayer, faith, etc) to Christlike attributes (patience, charity, etc). During the week I help with any activities that the youth may have during the week (i.e. youth dance, sports, etc). I frequently meet with other leaders of the church to discuss/plan upcoming activities and lessons. I encourage the young men to work hard at school, to do the best that they can, and to become the men that God wants them to be. In the world community I had the honor of serving as a full-time missionary in Peru for two years. In Peru I taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helped families draw closer to Christ. Through my time in Peru I was able to help repair homes and provide emotional and spiritual support for people who were going through hard times. Here in Canada I try to live my faith by being kind to others and helping them in their goals. I also share what I believe with those around me through words and actions. It is always important to show respect to others no matter what their belief, physical appearance or cultural background may be. I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ.
