Hi I'm Rick Hall

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Salt Lake City and have lived here my entire life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Except for serving in the Army during the Vietnam era and serving two missions in Argentina I have lived in the Salt Lake Valley my entire life. I went to high school here as well as obtained a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Utah. I met my wife in high school and we have five children and thirteen grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a wonderful home with loving parents. My mother was a member of the LDS Church having several generations precede her including pioneers that crossed the plains on foot. My father was born and raised a Methodist in North Dakota. They met at a military hospital in Brigham City Utah after he was wounded in the D-Day invasion of WWII. We grew up going to a community church and when I was 17 I became involved in the LDS Church through the sports program. Our parents provided a gospel-centered home but allowed us to choose our own worship direction. I started attending services during the latter part of my Sr. year in high school and developed a testimony through reading the Book of Mormon while I was in the Army during the Vietnam era. I returned home and decided to serve a mission. During that mission service my father received the missionaries and was baptized. As a father of five children and grandparent of 13 I have realized the importance of providing a foundation for growth and progress in our children and grandchildren that I received from my parents. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the foundation of all our families' direction.

How I live my faith

I have always known that true joy comes from serving others in the family, neighborhood, community and Church. We are the happiest when we lose ourselves in the service of others. I have had varying opportunities over the years to work with different groups in our Church and practice that concept. I have taught adults in marriage and family relations and the basic Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have had several "leadership" opportunities to lead congregations. I have worked with youth often and directed young missionaries in their efforts in Argentina. I was also an ecclesiastical leader at the state prison and developed a much broader understanding of the Atonement of our Savior as I watched men slowly, but surely, come to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and completely change their lives. I know that lives will be forever changed as we grow closer to the Savior and His teachings. By following Him I can be fulfilled in this life and experience the joy that comes from His Spirit.
