Hi I'm Madeleine West Anderson

I am from Draper, Utah. I am 18 years old and I attend Brigham Young University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Madeleine but I mostly go by Maddy. I was born and raised in Utah County, Utah. I have two younger brothers and a little puppy. I attend BYU and live in the dorms this year. I'm a freshman majoring in English. I hope to someday be a high school teacher or work in book editing/publishing. I love to read, my favorite books are Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. I love playing piano and I love to run. I played soccer in high school and I have skied all my life! However, I've missed the last two ski seasons due to two seperate surgeries on my right hip! It's been a long hard journey, but Heavenly Father has truly been there for me through it all. I don't know what I would've done without priesthood blessings! I know that God loves me and I know He loves each and every other one of His incredible children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, so my testimony came pretty naturally. I never questioned any doctrine I was taught, and my parents have always reminded that me that that really is an incredible blessing. Throughout junior high I had a few awesome experiences that solidified how much I feel Heavenly Father's love. I know I'm his daughter and I know He will always love me. However, like most teenagers I had a rough patch after graduating high school. Although it didn't last long, I understand how dark the world is without God in my life. I turned my back on Him and have done so for awhile, even after I started the repentance process. It hasn't been until recently that I've truly understood Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice. I felt unworthy of His love and even of His answers, so I stopped praying. As soon as I chose to do that again, I felt so comforted and had the overwhelming feeling that He will ALWAYS love me. No matter what I do as long as I remember Him and find my way back. He's rooting for me the whole way and I know I'll be able to figure it out, but I also understand that is what this whole Earth life is about! Finding our way back to Christ and even if we don't get the chance in this life, I know there will be an opportunity in the next life.

How I live my faith

Since I've moved to college, I've had a rough time adjusting to getting myself to church. But every time I go and participate, I feel a difference in my week. I don't have a calling yet, but I have told my Bishop that I'm ready whenever he wants to give me one! I think that attending Sunday meetings has a huge affect on our testimonies and its cool to learn what other people have experienced and how their own testimonies have grown. Visiting teaching has been a cool part of my life since moving to college also! It feels really good to meet with our girls even just once a month to make sure they know we are here for them. Even though they may not be our closest friends, we share a bond when they know that we would honestly do anything for them! Member, or non member; active or in active.
