Hi I'm Rick Mackintosh

I am a husband and father, a crossfit athlete, an aviation nut, a commercial pilot; I love photography and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Trying to become a "Handy-man" kind of guy....but it's a work in progress. I love aviation, and have a commercial pilot certificate. I'm a big airplane nut, history, museums, documentaries, I like it all! I also love fitness and crossfit training. I love my family, and playing with my kids. Hide and go seek is big at our house...the same goes with side walk chalk. Love the military, and thank all those who serve this nation. I'm trying to make photography a new hobby for this stage of my life. It's going "so-so", but I'm enjoying it! My wife is my rock and she's also a rock star mom, who does what she can to help our kids and I juggle all of life's challenges.

Why I am a Mormon

Where would I be without the church? In a completely different place. I choose to be a "Mormon" because I love God, and I want to follow Him. I have read the Book of Mormon and know that it is a true book. I know that God still speaks to Prophets in our day, and that there is in reality a plan for each one of us. The world is complex, everyone has challenges that differ in so many ways. Sometimes, so different as to hardly be able to comprehend what some people have gone through while others have not. Yet there is a plan. In a world where morality and ethical behavior sometimes feel like they are more like fashion trends; there really is a purpose for people in this life. That's the perspective. Don't take my word for it. Find out for yourself. I hope that doesn't sound pushy or arrogant. I would say try it, you've got everything to gain.

How I live my faith

I get the chance to work with the local youth of our congregation. In particular the 16 to 18 year old boys. As a youth leader, it's a blast. There is real satisfaction in just being there for the youth. Helping them with lessons on Sundays, organizing sporting and Boy Scouts of America activities. Providing service to the local community. Helping provide them with another place outside their family where they can turn for help in dealing with everyday challenges. I also have the opportunity to teach a gospel centered lesson on Sundays which reminds me of the reasons why I am active in church.
