Hi I'm Debra

I live in Arizona. I teach Preschool. I love crafting and sewing. My family is my passion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister in law, daughter, teacher and a friend. I love spending time with my husband especially now since our children are grown up. We love to go to movies and out to dinner. We hike together and enjoy the outdoors. We love spending time with our children and grandchildren. They are the joy and love of our lives. We love the outdoors. I especially love the beach since I grew up near the Atlantic Ocean, it is my favorite place to be. We enjoy the mountains as well and have an appreciation for all of God's creations. I love preschool age children. I love to see the light in their eyes when they learn new things. I love to sing silly songs and do funny things with my class. I love to read to children with lots of emotion and expression. I discovered all this with our own children first. I then pursued an education in Child Development and got a two year degree. I have been teaching for over 17 years in a preschool. I enjoy sewing and making unique and simple gifts for others. I enjoy crafting as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My mother was the only member in her family but my father's family were all members back a couple of generations. I grew up learning to love Jesus Christ and knowing the stories from the Bible and Book of Mormon. I went to Primary and Young Women as a youth and was surrounded by a loving family who were great examples of charity and love for one another and the gospel. When I was in high school, I attended early morning Seminary. I believe that this is when I developed my own personal testimony of Jesus Christ, Our Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost. I read the scriptures regularly and felt the spirit of the Lord testify to me that what I was reading and learning was true. I remember several mornings feeling the spirit strongly after Seminary as I went to school and it carried me through the day. These things are part of my life. They are who I am! My greatest belief in the gospel is in the Plan of Happiness or Salvation. I believe that we are eternal beings and that we were meant to be here to gain experience and prove ourselves and that will continue when we leave this earth. I believe that families can be forever! My mother passed away several years ago suddenly. As devastating as that was to our family, we all understand that we will see her again! What a great comfort that has been in my life to know that she will be waiting to see me when it is my turn to leave this earth. I believe that we can be truly forgiven of our mistakes. I have made many mistakes that I am ashamed of but I know that through the Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ, these mistakes can be forgiven and washed away, as it were, so that I can continue to grow and learn to be better. I can't even comprehend the magnitude of the Savior's sacrifice for us! He loves us all so very much that he wants us all to be together forever. I believe this with all my heart!

How I live my faith

I have had many positions of service in my church. I taught the very young children in Nursery. What a joy that is! I have taught every age group of children in our Youth Program. I have served as the President of that organization and was blessed with the responsibility of preparing messages to teach and strengthen their developing testimonies of Jesus Christ. I often learned more from their sweet spirits than I ever taught them. I have been in the Young Women's Program and also continued that blessing of teaching the young girls about our Savior and His Plan for them. What an important age group of girls as they are preparing for high school or in high school and are faced with so many difficult challenges with peer pressure and all the influences that the world has for negative behaviors. I love going to Camp each summer for a few days as we teach skills about outdoor living and safety. These were coupled with spiritual activities and testimony building meetings that blessed everyone. I have served in the Women's Organization as a teacher and leader. What a strength to prepare lessons and activities for the women. I have gained strength from the sisters in my church as we share our personal stories and our testimony building experiences with one another in our Sunday class time. I have taught classes on strengthen families and teaching spiritual lessons, cooking, crafting and sewing. One of my greatest blessings has been to visit other sisters in my church in their homes regularly. One particular sister I visited for 10 years and grew to love and appreciate her so much. She was ill and had several surgeries. I prepared food for her family and visited them in the hospital. I cared for them when she came home. When she passed away, I helped the family with the funeral arrangements and participated in the funeral. I then visited the daughter of this sister who soon became ill with cancer. I cared for her and visited her until her passing.
