Hi I'm Heidi Harris

I'm from Colorado. I work as a CNA and I have a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My two loves are sports/exercise and Food. That's why my major is in Exercise Science and my minor is Culinary Arts. I love to play any kind of sports, i've played little league softball, gymnastics, dance (tap, jazz, ballet), volleyball, and i've ran track. I enjoy running short races, one of my goals is to one day run a half marathon (don't think i could do a full one). I love to try out new recipes, my hope is to one day be able to cook without recipes and just know what would make things good. I also play the piano and sing, my husband and i are learning to play the guitar together recently. My favorite place in the whole world is Lake Powell we go every year as a family and it's the best vacation ever!

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in this church my whole life, but i feel that everyone reaches the point in their lives when they have to choose which direction to go. That moment came to me when i was 14 years old. I was reading a book and in it a boy was sharing an experience in one of his classes. they were doing show and tell and one of the people came in with a Book of Mormon and shared his testimony that he knew it was true. And the boy who was sharing the experience said, "I've never heard that before, the only thing that i hear in my church is that they believe." It was then that i asked myself, do i know that what i'm following is true? For the first time in my life i prayed to know not just believe that this church is true. For about a couple weeks i prayed and read my scriptures, always hoping and believing that I'd receive an answer. It came to me while reading my scriptures as a still small voice and a calm peaceful feeling and it said, "why ask what you already know". From that moment on I know that this gospel is true, I know that my Redeemer lives and that He gave His life for each one of us as individuals. God loves us enough to give His Son so that we have the opportunity to repent and one day live with God again. How beautiful is that? I know that my family can be together forever because of our Savior. Jesus Christ is everything. I love Him and I know that He lives and that He has called prophets in Bible times, as well as today. I know that our current Prophet Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet. I also know that you can know as i know that this gospel is true, all you have to do is ask.

How I live my faith

working as a Certified Nurse's Assistant in an Assisted Living I've grown a love for the elderly. They are hilarious, I have friends that I try to visit on a regular basis. In my church we have service opportunities called callings. My calling is to be a visiting teacher. A visiting teacher is someone who is able to go with another lady in our church, to a couple of other ladies in our church to see how they are doing and to see if there's anything we can do to help them. It's fun to get to know each other on a more personal basis. I also coordinate activities for the ladies in our church. The way i personally live what i believe is how i strive to live my life. I try to do what's right, and strive to look for service opportunities each day to try to make someone's day better. there's a song that says, "If the Savior stood beside me would i do the things i do?" I strive to ask myself that each day when faced with a difficult decision. By doing what I feel the Savior would do if He were here i feel my life has greater meaning, and i'm that much more happy.
