Hi I'm Kayla

I grew up in Mesa. I am studying to be a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student quickly discovering my passion for teaching. I'm in the Secondary Education field, so yes, I want to teach teenagers in high school! Specifically, I've fallen in love with literature and watching the eyes of my students light up when a subject just clicks. Aside from teaching, I love playing and watching baseball and creative writing. Maybe I'll hit one out of the park one day with a fiction novel I'm working on! I guess we'll see!

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion story changes by the day as I continue to learn more and more about the gospel. I was born in the church and have always been an active member. This has given me the opportunity to have many experiences that added to my ever-growing testimony over the years. I am a Mormon because every time I choose to go to church or follow the teachings of the prophet and apostles on the earth I feel peace. I am constantly reminded of my Savior's love for me as this peace comes over and over again, a reminder that I could not live without. I am a very independent person, the type that doesn't take well to being told to do something unless I know and understand why. That is why I love this gospel, because every time I receive guidance from the leaders of our church or through my own personal prayers and scripture study, I cannot help but know it is true. It is inspired, and it is exactly what I need to be happy. Never have I been more content and happy with who I am than when I am following the examples of my Savior and inspired prophets. I would be nowhere if I hadn't looked to role models in my life. These role models, family, church leaders, and friends, have shown me what it is like to be truly happy by following the example of my Savior. I want to be as joyful as them, and I know it is their membership in the true church that brings them that lasting joy. I could say a million things, give a million examples and stories, but the simple reason that I am a Mormon is that I know without a doubt that my Savior lives and loves me, and watches over me. He is rooting for my success, and never makes me struggle alone. I know his words in the Book of Mormon are true guidance for us in our time, which proves his love for me and all of his children. I know we have a prophet on the earth today to give us even more guidance from God, and I know that someday I will return to meet my God. This is a gospel of peace and joy and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

How I live my faith

There is never a dull moment in the gospel of Jesus Christ! I love that I can go to church every sunday and fulfill whatever calling I have. This gives me a sense of purpose and helps me feel like I am part of a work that needs me. Currently I am a Visiting Teaching Supervisor, which gives me the amazing opportunity to get to know girls in our ward and help them get to know each other. We all work together in such a unified group to make sure that all the girls are having their needs met, even if their need is as simple as needing a friend. The best part is that these friendships that I find while I fulfill my calling go beyond the Sunday meetings. Nothing in this gospel stops after church, but helps sustain me throughout the week. There's so much more to living my faith than the calling I have in my word. To me, I am really living my faith when I consistently look for ways to serve the people I meet, because I know that is what my Savior Jesus Christ would do. Since my faith is in him, to live my faith I want to be like him in every way. One of my absolute favorite ways to show this service is to attend the temple regularly. This is the house of the Lord, and I feel his love for me and the rest of his children every time I set foot in that sacred place.
