Hi I'm Ryan

I speak Spanish and love cultures. My greatest ambition is to be a good dad throughout my future medical career! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a senior in college and will soon graduate with a degree in Biology. I have been accepted to the University of Washington School of Medicine and will being my medical education in the fall. Growing up I was very active in sports and activities with my friends. As an adolescent I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease known as Ulcerative Colitis. This challenge brought great depth to my life and helped me to empathize with others from a young age. I was blessed to have good health and was able to serve a two year mission for the LDS church in Southern California. On my mission I learned Spanish and learned to love the Hispanic people. The people from my mission are my best friends today. Most of all, from my mission I learned that each person matters to God. I have felt of His love for His children and it inspires me to treat others with that same love and concern. Two years after my mission I married the greatest girl in the world (completely unbiased opinion!). We are forever grateful for the blessings of the gospel in our lives. We love to be active together, playing racquetball, hiking, fishing, waterskiing, or any other outdoor activity we can get involved in. We both come from wonderful families and are grateful for their love and support as we pursue our goals!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have come to know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, is the one who leads this church! Health challenges in my life have caused me to consider my purpose in life and seek the help of one mightier that I. I am so grateful for Jesus Christ and His life and sacrifice for me. I am also grateful that He continues to love and sustain me, two thousand years after His earthly mission. Because I know that He loves me and all of us on Earth at this time, I know that He has not forsaken us but continues to reach out to us in love. I know that in His loving mercy He restored His gospel to the Earth in our day and age and continues to guide His church through a living prophet. Understanding His plan, revealed through living prophets, brings great purpose and happiness to my life. I am a Mormon because I know that the Savior of the World has revealed His plan for the benefit of mankind and given me the opportunity to return to Him and my Heavenly Father along with my family! Hope fills my soul as I anticipate eternal life with my sweet wife, our future children, and our Father in Heaven and His son!

How I live my faith

Preparing for medical school over the past four years have been a rigorous and time consuming effort. Throughout this process I been strengthened as I have tried to live according to my faith. I have set a goal to study from the Book of Mormon every morning before I begin my studies. In order to respect the Lord's Sabbath day, I do not do homework or study on Sunday but work to finish my studies on Saturday evening and early Monday morning. I teach a group of young men around my age once a month in my congregation. Most of all, the gospel blesses us as a young family as we read the scripture together, attend church and the temple, and spend Monday nights together discussing gospel topics. Living my faith has increased my ability as a student and as a husband!
