Hi I'm Nathan

I'm from Indiana. I'm a big Manchester United fan. I'm a software engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Indiana. My father was in the military so we move around a lot. I started in Indiana, we then moved to Utah, Virginia, Kansas, Germany, then back to Indiana. I went to college in Indiana. I got my bachelors in Information Technology from Purdue University. While there I met my wife and we got married in the St. Louis, Missouri Temple. We now live in Kansas City where I am Software Engineer for Cerner, a company that makes software for hospitals. We have a precious little girl and two great little boys. I love to play with my children. We play tee ball, soccer, and race around in the back yard. I'm also a big sports fan. I served a mission for my church in Manchester, England. I learned a great love for football (soccer) while I was there. I'm a big Manchester United fan, come on you red devils!! I also love college football and basketball. I of course root for my good old Purdue Boilermakers. I like the NFL as well, go Colts! I like Geography. I can name all the countries of the world. Most of all I love my family. I love playing with my kids in the back yard and at the park. I love having fun with them everywhere!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both converts to the Mormon church. I was born into the church. I spent my childhood going to church and learning its teachings. As I got older I began to see that there were many churches and different ideas about religion. I needed to know if the things I grew up learning were true. I decided to read the Book of Mormon. As I read it, my spirit and mind were filled with light. I learned of Christ. I learned of his atoning sacrifice for us. I learned the process of repentance. I read about Alma, a Book of Mormon prophet who had sinned greatly during his early life and who fought against the church. He was struck down with guilt and pain when visited by an angel and told to stop fighting against the church. He spent three days and nights in a coma like state, ravaged by his guilt. He said that he was harrowed up by his guilt, but that he remembered his father talking of Jesus Christ who would come and pay the price of sin. He cried out in prayer for forgiveness, as he did so he said, oh what joy and what marvelous light I did behold, I was harrowed up by my many sins no more. He said that his joy and light were now equal in measure to the pain and torment he had been feeling. Those words pierced me to my soul. I felt the power of the atonement of Jesus Christ. At that moment, I knew that Jesus was my savior. I knew he existed, that he lives and that he has the power to take away my guilt and my stain and to make me whole. Later I was sitting in a seminary class in my church. I was listening to a teacher tell of the experience when Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ. As I heard that I was overcome with the Holy Spirit. I knew that that experience was true. I knew that Jesus had visited Joseph and that Joseph had reestablished Christ's church on the earth. I know that God lives. I know that Jesus Christ is the redeemer and Savior of the world. His atonement is real. I have felt it take away my guilt.

How I live my faith

I have been a volunteer for many things through the church. I have taught the youth Sunday School lessons (ages 12-18), organized service projects like picking trash up off the roadside, and organizing church members to visit people in need. These opportunities have helped me understand true Christianity. They've helped me to focus on doing the things the Savior would do. Christlike service through volunteer work has brought me closer to God.
