Hi I'm Kelly

I'm from North Carolina. I love singing and learning and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Sophomore at school in North Carolina, where I was raised! I recently changed my major to Anthropology and fell in love with it! No, it's not the study of monkeys, I'm not Indiana Jones, and I won't work at the store "Anthropologie". I study cultures and their histories. I hope to either teach or work with non-profits one day! I have always loved singing since I was young and still do all the time! I think music is the best way to reach people, it has a way of touching us without knowing. One day I'll learn to play more than two songs on the piano! I love to travel, but haven't been outside of the country yet (one of these days!). Even in the United States there are so many places to go, people to meet, and things to see and I can't wait to go, meet, and see them all! I've always had a passion for talking to people and figuring out their stories, and I'm a talker as well, so don't be surprised when I just start a conversation with you! I am the fourth out of six kids and LOVE my family! And I LOVE being a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

Being born in this church, people assume that I just follow because of my parents and family. That couldn't be further from the truth! I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many reasons. The most important being the undeniable truth and power it holds. That power is the power of God. You can only find it in this church and I am truly grateful that I was born into this gospel and didn't have to search for it. To find out the church was true, I never had an "a-ha!" moment. It was lots of little moments where I felt the Holy Ghost manifesting to me that this was the true church. It was through a lot of personal study of the scriptures and through that I have gained a testimony that this is the true church of God. It is His only church on this earth. Through the scriptures we learn how to live to one day live with God, Christ, and our family members again. We learn the purpose of this life and that it is only a smidgeon of what eternity is. We learn that Christ atoned for our sins. God gave us the greatest gift of all-His son who died for all of our sins, so we can become clean again and continually repent so we can return and live with our families in His presence one day (longest run-on sentence ever). I am so grateful I have this gospel in my life and I can live every day with the Holy Ghost to guide me if I am worthy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my everyday actions. A part of that is incorporated in my callings I have held in the church. Being president of my Beehive, Mia Maid, and Laurel classes, I always tried to be the best example I could to the girls through living the standards, having a positive attitude, and being Christ-like and reaching out to each of them. In the Young Single Adult program, I have tried to live my faith through my participation in the program and supporting the activities and the people who plan them. As part of the Temple Committee, I tried to attend every temple trip we had planned and taught lessons on the importance of Temple work, which strengthened my testimony of it. As a Visiting Teacher, I have tried to reach out to each of the women each month and continuously pray for them. Overall, I believe I live my faith mainly through my example. I would love to have the confidence and courage to go up to random people and everyone I see and just spread the message of the Lord's church-It's THAT amazing! But I live this gospel through attending church meetings, fasting and praying, reading the Book of Mormon, Bible, and Doctrine and Covenants regularly. I live the standards of the gospel to the best of my abilities. No one is perfect, and believe me I have my flaws, but I try every day to be Christ-like. All the things I just listed are all attributes of Him and the way He lived life while on this Earth. Keeping a positive attitude and living worthy of the Holy Spirit is the key to how I live my faith.
