Hi I'm Christine

I live in Maine. I'm a typical teenager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 15 years old. I was born into the church but my parents always gave me a choice to become a member or not. Of course I did when I was eight. Nothing has made me more happier than the gospel. I live in Maine (not all Mormons live in Utah) Being a Mormon Teenager can often be a bumpy road but it is worth the time and energy. I go to Morse High School. High school isn't always easy for me because I am the only Mormon in my grade but I make the best of my friends and stick true to my values.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Mormon? Why wouldn't I want to be a Mormon! The church has brought me so many great blessings in my life and has directed my family through times of struggle. The teachings of the church are centered around families. My friend's parents are getting a divorce. The economy had effected them greatly and caused much hardship. The same had happened to my family but we prayed and had trust in the lord. I believe the gospel keeps me and many others together when the worst could be happening to them. That is why I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I go to church regularly but there is a lot more that I do to live my faith. I am in a girls group (12-18) at church. We do so much together! My favorite activity that we do is service projects. I love the feeling of happiness after I do something thoughtful for someone else. I also participate in early morning seminary. I wake up at around 5 a.m. and leave the house at 5:30 to get to the church. Once there, I learn about the scriptures. Each year the seminary class reviews a section of the standard works, such as; Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants. It lasts about an hour. During that time we memorize scriptures, learn meanings, and talk about doctrine. I enjoy seminary so much. I have a great teacher and the youth that go are amazing. Aside from all of that my family has a certain night that we dedicate to being together and learning. We do fun activities and study scriptures together during that time. And, there's always a TREAT!

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

A 14 year old boy named Joseph Smith was questioning what church he should join. He went into a grove of trees and prayed to learn. Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ appeared. Joseph learned that he should not join any. God then chose Joseph to restore the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Earth. During a period of ten years, Joseph, translated the Book of Mormon, and received authority to organize the church we now have today. The church was officially organized on April 6, 1830, in Fayette, New York. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

During the New Testament, Jesus establishes the church. Along with that he has 12 Apostles. These Apostles continue preaching the gospel after Christ had died. Under the direction of Peter they chose Matthias to replace Judas (Acts Chapter 1) Paul was also chosen to be an apostle. In Ephesians 2:19-20 (written by Paul) it states that the church is built upon the foundation of Apostles and Prophets. In Ephesians 4:11-14 it tells us that their function is to "bring us to a unity of the faith." That is why we have the 12 Apostles today. Show more Show less
