Hi I'm Emily

I'm an elementary school teacher, I'm a student, I'm a seminary teacher, I'm a daughter, sister, and friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Northern California and left home to go to BYU in Provo, UT. I am in elementary school teacher and have taught pre-K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. I moved to the east coast to continue my teaching experience and now I'm getting my M.Ed. in ESL and Reading. I love to play and watch just about any sport, camp, and just be outside. I'm also a book worm! I love to laugh and be around others. I have a lot of nieces and nephews and do whatever it takes to maintain "favorite Aunt" status.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but had to find out for myself as a teenager if this church is true. I had no doubt that Heavenly Father was real and that he listened to my prayers, but I needed to know if the church was true. I remember praying and asking the Lord to help me know the church was true for several days. As I was praying I was also reading the Book of Mormon. One night as I read, I realized just how much the Book of Mormon spoke of Jesus Christ and testified of his coming and his teachings. I knew that any book that spoke of Christ as much as this book did had to be real. I also realized that our church was set up exactly the same way as the church Jesus Christ organized when he was on the earth. We have apostles and prophets. I knew that to be Christ's church it needed to be organized likes Christ's church in the New Testament. A warm, peaceful feeling testified to me that our church was true, its teachings are true, and I would be blessed as I continued to its teachings. I know the Bible and Book of Mormon are true and I study them both faithfully.

How I live my faith

I am currently the Early Morning Seminary Teacher for the youth in my city. This means that I work with high school aged youth every morning at 6:00 am and we learn and study from the scriptures every school day. This is not a required course for the youth, it is voluntary and any one is welcome to attend. We read from the scriptures and apply its teachings to our lives and talk about how what we learn from the scriptures can help us be better Christians and better citizens. This is a volunteer assignment fore me, I do not get paid to do it, although the blessings from daily scripture study is priceless. I learn from my studying and from the youth every day! It is early, but I love my calling!
