Hi I'm Bill

I grew up in Colorado. I am an independent businessman, an author, and I love to hunt and fish. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a wife and four adult children and nine grandchildren. I worked for 20-plus years in the electrical engineering field. I am currently involved in several business ventures and have authored a book. I love the outdoors and am an avid big game hunter and fly fisherman. I was a basketball referee at the high school and college level for 29 years. I built the house that I currently live in. I enjoy art, woodworking, carpentry, and gardening.

Why I am a Mormon

I found the Church through the missionaries almost 35 years ago. My in-laws had been referred to the missionaries by a member of the Church and my mother-in-law invited my wife and I to attend the first discussion with them. I had grown up in the Catholic Church and attended Catholic schools for much of my youth. My wife and I were married in a Catholic Church, but she had no interest in joining the Catholic faith. Throughout my youth I had questions about several of the Catholic doctrines, but had continued to attend even though I had doubts. When the missionaries taught me about Joseph Smith and his first first vision, I knew instantly that what they were telling me was true. It was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life, but that was just the beginning. At the conclusion of the discussion, the missionaries asked that we go home and pray to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet, if the Book of Mormon was true, and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the true church upon the earth. I did so and the Holy Ghost confirmed to me the truth of those three statements. For the first time in my life, I received an answer to my prayers! Even though I had received a wonderful spiritual witness regarding the Church, it took my wife and I several months and several sets of missionary discussions before we committed to be baptized, but doing so was the best decision of my life. I had always believed in God and His son, Jesus Christ, but through my conversion to the Church, I came to a greater knowledge of them. I know that Heavenly Father lives and that His son, Jesus Christ, is my redeemer. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and was the instrument through which Heavenly Father restored the fulness of the gospel to the earth. I have since read the Book of Mormon numerous times and know it to be the word of God. I know we are led by a living prophet who provides guidance to the members of the Church in troubled times.

How I live my faith

I love the gospel with all my heart. I especially love that as a member of the Church, I get to serve other people. I have been blessed to serve in many leadership positions in the Church during the course of my 35-year membership. I currently work with the full-time missionaries in our unit in finding and teaching people who are interested in possibly joining the church. We also reach out to the general membership of our unit to help strengthen their testimonies and encourage their activity in the Church. Service in the Church keeps my faith strong and helps me to grow as a husband, as a father and grandfather, and as a person. My membership in the Church has been the greatest blessing of my life!
