Hi I'm Brieanna Alexander

I'm the oldest of six, I'm from Colorado, and I am studying Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University.

About Me

I love to read! During the summer I sit outside and pore over books, often reading more than one a day. I also adore family road trips and camping in the beautiful Rocky Mountains (or anywhere really). A complete nerd, I enjoy watching Doctor Who and Sherlock or playing video games with at least one of my six younger siblings. And, crazy as it sounds, I love math (although I'm not majoring in it because I also love science and robotics). While in high school, I spent countless hours in the technology lab building robots for the FIRST robotics competition and many hours volunteering at a nearby therapeutic riding center. Now, in college, I hope to become part of a team mentoring underwater robotics for middle schoolers. Basically, if it has something to do with tools, math, science or books, count me in!

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Being raised in the church has been a huge blessing in my life. When I take the time to pray, study the Book of Mormon, serve, and attend the temple I am so much happier and it seems like I have so much more time to accomplish what I need to. It definitely is counter intuitive that giving up time leads to having more time, but God works in mysterious ways and it has happened several times in my life. One of the greatest things about the Gospel is that we are encouraged to ask questions and try things for ourselves. Even the prophets in the Book of Mormon ask us to experiment on their words. By so doing, we can know and develop a testimony for ourselves. I know that Jesus Christ, the Son of God came to earth and atoned not only for the sins of the world, but also took upon himself all of our pains and sicknesses. He truly understands Everything we are going through! He and our Father in Heaven have an incomprehensible love for each of us. As children of a loving Heavenly Father, we possess divine qualities, gifts from Him, to remind us of who we are and where we want to go. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we are blessed with the opportunity to return home and to live with our families for eternity. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth through him. This church is true and it has been a huge blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

Service is a huge part of the gospel! We are encouraged to live as Christ did and be examples of selflessness. I love serving others and found an opportunity to volunteer at a therapeutic riding center in my community. It is so much fun to go and work with the kids each week and being able to serve them makes such a huge difference in my life! Since moving to college, I have been given the chance to increase focus on the temple and family history as part of my calling at church. Part of the women's organization also includes teaching and being a friend to other sisters in the ward. It has been such a blessing to spend time visiting with some of the amazing girls who live near me. I know that as we take time to uplift others, we will be uplifted as well.
