Hi I'm Gabby

I was born and raised in a Catholic family, but now... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been in the Army since June 2008. I am about to get out in a few months. I play the violin, and I am an artist. I love to draw and take pictures with my awesome new camera. When I was in high school I played field hockey. I used to play soccer too. It's my favorite sport. I can still kick some butt when I play. I am a quiet person, and I generally keep to myself. I'm not shy, but i'm a total introvert. I love my friends and family, but I get exhausted being out in public with lots of people! I am soft spoken, but I have a lot of opinions that I feel very passionate about. Don't let my quietness fool you!

Why I am a Mormon

When I met my husband two years ago, he told me his family was Mormon. I was immediately interested. I asked a lot of questions. It wasn't until after we got married, though, that we started going to church. I spent time with his family in Utah and I really felt the spirit while I was there. Everyone was so peaceful and full of energy. Their true devotion to Jesus really made me admire them. After that trip, I never forgot the way I felt when I was there. A few months later, after our wedding, the missionaries came to our house. My husband let them in and I made them sandwiches. After talking, we decided to invite them back for dinner. At that point, it wasn't just me feeling the spirit, it was my husband too. He had been inactive for a long time. Together, though, the spirit guided us to the scriptures and to the church. I heard the story about Joseph Smith and his quest to find the right church. I really related to him because I had been searching for the right church my whole life. At times in my life, I even called myself an athiest because I had given up. There was something so strong inside of me and I just knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true. It made so much sense to me that Heavenly Father would reveal the Book of Mormon to us at the time that he did for the reasons that he did. Before I was baptized, I had an experience with God that showed me he is out there somewhere, I just didn't know where to find him. When I found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I knew exactly where he was. Through my testimony, my husband found his. Being there by my side, he also realized that the church is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to learn as much as I can and by reading the scriptures. I love to ask questions. I live by the Word of Wisdom. I don't drink coffee, black tea, or alcohol, and I don't use tobacco products. A lot of people think that I restrain from using those things because I am letting someone tell me what to do or not to do. To me, it was a personal decision that I made with the intention of being a healthy person. I have seen drugs and alcohol ruin lives first hand. I feel like it is truly easy to live without them. I was recently called as a wards missionary and I am excited to get started. I cant wait to see what Heavenly Father has in store for everyone I meet.
