Hi I'm Jared

I am currently a college student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 23 years old, am married, and have played the guitar for going on 12 years now. I served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Italy, Catania Mission from December 2007 to December 2009. My family while growing up moved all over the United States, so I was able to make friends in all kinds of circumstances and was able to learn a lot about other people. I have grown to really enjoy having a good conversation with people that I don't know and have met for the first time. I love hearing other peoples' testimonies of the Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

I am one that was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but have always had a testimony from living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My testimony has not always been as solid as it is now, but those experiences I had when my testimony was being tried were what strengthened my testimony. With the Gospel as more of a focal point in my life, I have been able to have guidance from my Heavenly Father more readily available. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ! It is such a blessing in my life. Without the testimony I have today of Christ and His love and Atonement for me, I would be lost. I know that Christ has called prophets and apostles today as I have felt that truth come from my Heavenly Father in my own special way. The truth feels warm in my chest and I just know without any shadow of a doubt that it is right and true. I testify that these prophets and apostles speak with our Heavenly Father today and are His and Christ's special witnesses on the earth today. There message is here for all the world to hear, not just a few people to hear. I challenge all to listen to General Conference, where the prophets speak, with an honest, righteous question in mind, a question that is needing an answer. If one will do so with the intent to receive an answer and to act, I promise that the answer will come through the Holy Ghost. Prayer is another way to receive an answer. With these two things, I have found that both prayer and General Conference have been the gateway for my testimony to blossom, as the Holy Ghost has made the truth manifest unto me. I promise the same to you.

How I live my faith

In my ward, or church group, I serve in the primary with my wife. The primary is where the children go to sing songs, pray, read scriptures, and learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been a wonderful blessing to be among these very choice individuals in primary. The love of our Heavenly Father is manifested through these beautiful children and I have been greatly blessed to help them gain a testimony for themselves of the truthfulness of the Gospel. I have the opportunity at my school to be an example of a follower of Christ. I am far from perfect, but people really do notice when we try to follow Him and I have seen others around me even stop with their filthy language and speak of more wholesome things. At work, I have been blessed in different ways. First off, I have a job to pay bills and to pay for school, but I have also been blessed to be an influence for righteousness. I love serving people and even just talking about life with the individuals that come into the business.

What is the Book of Mormon?

We believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God as is the Bible. The reason why we are given scripture is so that we may know of God's will for us and how to stay on the path back to Him. Through the prophet Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon was translated for us today. It is an ancient record that was written for all of mankind in the latter-days, or in other words these days. The focal point in the Book of Mormon is the Savior, Jesus Christ. Many prophets speak of His coming years before He came and testified of His Atonement and ministry in Jerusalem. The coming of Jesus Christ to the ancient Americas is spoken of as well, and this shows us that God loves all mankind, and He blesses us according to our obedience to the commandments. The testimony of The Book of Mormon that I have is solid. I know that this book is the word of God as I have read it multiple times and have asked in multiple occasions to have my testimony further strengthened through living according to its precepts. The truth that is found within runs parallel with that found in the Bible, and the two witnesses of Christ going together have given me a support that has changed my life forever. I challenge all to read it and to ponder its teachings. When one does this and prays to know of the truth, it will be manifested by the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
