Hi I'm Gretchen

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 8 years and have two wonderful boys. I am a Registered Nurse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a mother of two wonderful boys, who are 2 and 4 years old. They are a handful, but a joy to be around. I am married to my wonderful husband of 8 years, who was converted to the gospel before we got married. Besides being a mother, which is a full time job, I have been a Registered Nurse for 5 1/2 years. I work part-time at the local hospital. When I have time, I am really enjoying to read and workout.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been LDS my whole life. I got baptized at 8 years old and that was that. I didn't ask my Heavenly Father "Is this the true church of Jesus Christ?" until after high school and that is when I became truly converted. Just like most teenagers I rebelled a great deal and didn't think that the gospel was a priority. That was ten years ago and I know that being LDS is not just being part of a religion, but it is how I have become closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ. Being Mormon has given me stepping stones to work on and it has given me a focus that I know I wouldn't have had if I was not LDS. It helps me prioritize my life and keep the big picture in mind, which is to return with my family to my Heavenly Father. By following the counsel of Jesus Christ and reading the scriptures, praying, and partaking of the sacrament, I have seen many blessings in my life. I have come to understand in a small way the love that my Father in Heaven has for me, personally and that he gives these standards and counsel for me to live by so that I don't get wrapped up or manipulated into veering off the path of righteousness. I have a testimony of this gospel. I know that Jesus Christ GAVE his life so that I could return to my Heavenly Father and I know that he felt so much pain in the Garden of Gethsamane so that when I do make a mistake, which I have, I can go to Him in prayer and ask for forgiveness and my pain can be taken away. I know that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever by the way He has restored His one true church on this earth. I know that the prophet receives direct guidance from Jesus Christ. I know that the priesthood is the power of Jesus Christ and that it is only used to serve others. I have chosen to be a member of this church not because it is easy, but because it gives me peace and eternal joy. It has given me a love for others and myself that I would not be able to have if not knowing the love that Jesus Christ has for me and each person on this earth.

How I live my faith

The number one thing that I have learned by being a member of this church is that service to others both members of the church or not is the first priority. I work with the Young Women 12-18 year olds. When I was called to serve the Young Women I was nervous and excited, but I never thought of how much I would love each of those Young Women. By praying for that love and for guidance on how to best serve each individual Young Women, I have grown to respect and love each of them. Besides serving the Young Women I get to enjoy visiting teaching, which is when me and a partner get to visit some of the women that go to our church and get to know them, share with them a spiritual message, and in all circumstances get to serve these women. I have found when living my faith, it is my responsibility as a woman to reach out to others and show them and always share with them my love for them, but, also, the Saviors love for them. As a nurse in the community, I have tried to serve those in need with a kind heart, big smile, and a listening ear. I live this gospel by always trying to find opportunities to serve others.
