Hi I'm Tess

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up on a farm provided ample opportunity to work hard. Some of my earliest memories involve working with my dad, changing water with my sister, and canning fruit from our orchard with my mom. Work was always an integral part of my life. I worked hard in school and college, worked hard to be the best mother and wife I could be, worked hard in my church assignments, and worked hard to build a successful business designing and building custom homes. I look back at my life and wonder how I found the energy to do so many things...it makes me a little tired just thinking about it. Life has had its ups and downs, but I try to remember the ups and learn from the downs. I have been married now for over thirty years, just not to the same husband. (It took me a while to find the perfect one.) Life has been an adventure and I plan to stick around just to see how it turns out. I love to read, I love my 8.5 perfect grandchildren, I love keeping healthy and fit, I love my husband, and I love the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I can't ever remember not knowing that the church was true and felt no need to look elsewhere for peace and understanding. That knowledge never kept me from enjoying and attending other churches and studying other religions. I found love and goodness in all of them, but knew in my heart that the restored church of Jesus Christ was exactly what it claimed to be...the true church of Jesus Christ. My mother joined the Mormon church as a teenager and perhaps it was her faith that traveled into my DNA. Perhaps it was her love and deep belief in a Father in Heaven and his precious Son that rubbed off on me. More likely it was the hours I spent studying the scriptures, communicating with my Father in prayer, attending and teaching theological courses, and life's experiences that have confirmed and cemented in place my faith in God and belief in His restored church.

How I live my faith

My membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has woven a pattern of miracles in my life. It has consistently moved me out of my comfort zone and onto higher ground. My faith has inspired me to serve others, to study and grow, and to examine my many weakness and strive to overcome them. It would be impossible to measure the hours spent in worship and service in my church community, but it is those experiences that that have made me who I am today. I am far from perfect, but my life is fully committed to doing the will of the Lord and serving those in need...inside and outside of the church.
