Hi I'm Gregory Shibuta

I am Brazilian and I love my Savior, the wonderful people around me, and Japan. And soccer, of course. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the eldest son of a family of 5 children. I'm from Brazil and have lived most of my life there, and I've lived around 6 years total in the wonderful country of Japan. I am currently 21 years old and I've recently returned from a full-time mission, in which I served in Tokyo, Japan for 2 years. I have a wonderful family, wonderful friends, and I have a deep testimony of the gospel's truthfulness, which I developed by living the principles taught by Jesus Christ. Throughout my life, I've grown to know Him more and more, and with that came also great love and gratitude for Him as my personal Savior. I am terribly shy, although I consider myself a pretty good "actor", so I'm able to trick people into believing I'm not! I love playing and listening to music, learning languages and traveling, especially to foreign countries.

Why I am a Mormon

Because my parents are members, as I grew up I was always learning about Church teachings. Eternal families, Celestial Kingdom, the Atonement. It all sounded amazing, although I didn't quite understand it all. I can say that I know that this is all true. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and that's why I decided to follow His example and be baptized. Through Him, I was able to overcome my hardest challenges and trials, and receive peace of mind and comfort, the blessings that all of us desire. The Church blesses my family, helping us work out problems that for others might look impossible to go through, but we had God's help, and if we trust in Him, everyone else can have that as well. Knowing that we also have a living prophet today gives me direction and focus in my life; it reminds me that God indeed loves His children, and He blesses us and will help us in any way we may need.

How I live my faith

Church was always a big part of my life. I always go to activities like Mutual and EFY, but I have to say my favorite thing about it is service projects. I just love going to someone's house and helping them however I can. One of my greatest desires is to be the answer of someone else's prayers to help them. I used to be a leader of the young men group that was in my city, and we had a really good time together not only playing sports and going to movies, camping and other things, but also working together to help others in need. Going to Church every Sunday gives me the opportunity to renew my bonds with my friends, family and specially Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
