Hi I'm Ashley

I'm a college student. I love to give. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Some of my most favorite things are: people, babies/children (I want to become a neonatal nurse), nature (the earth, the skies, the animals, the plants), music (Bon Iver and Of Monsters & Men are my fav!), and food (MEXICAN.). I love learning about things and about people. I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida and am a student at the University of Central Florida studying nursing. I have recently put my education on hold and will be going on a mission to Bakersfield, California to serve The Lord for 18 months. My parents divorced when I was 8 years old and this has been a lifelong trial. I did not grow up attending church regularly and for period of time during my first year of college, I could not say I believed there was a God. At this time, I was incredibly unhappy and depressed. The choices I was making I now realize only added to the miserable life I was living. One day, a friend invited me to his baptism and I nervously agreed to go. The Spirit touched me so deeply that day and I knew that what I needed in my life was to always come to church. God wanted me back.. He had wanted me back all along, but I was the one who had kept my distance from Him. Stepping inside the church building, I immediately felt God's love and felt like I was home. I've been back ever since that day. I have made many changes in my life. My heart, even my very nature, has changed because of Jesus Christ. I know He is my Savior and that He has power to forgive and heal and mend our brokenness.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the fullness of the gospel found in this Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, brings me pure joy- beyond that which I never could have imagined. I'm a Mormon because of how happy being a Mormon makes me! Never has there been a church, or a religion, or philosophy that has ever made more sense or felt more right than in this church. I know this is the true Church because I have acted on my faith, studied the teachings, and prayed to know if it is true. For me, there is absolutely no way I can deny the spiritual witness, and continuing witness, I receive of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know what my life has been like outside of this Church and inside of the Church. There is absolutely no doubt in me that this is where I'm supposed to be. I would not trade it for anything. Happiness is found in truth. This is the truth.

How I live my faith

Service. Scriptures. Sharing my testimony. Service - Jesus Christ is the greatest example of service and inspires me to reach out to those around me. This increases my love towards others and bring me the greatest happiness. I help organize service projects for our congregation and have had many rewarding experiences. Scriptures - I love to study the word of God in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. They help me learn how I can become a better person and make it back to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for eternity. Sharing my testimony - Whenever I get the chance to share what I know to be true with someone else, I am blessed with a sweet feeling of peace from the Spirit and it is my prayer that others will be able to feel that same Spirit in their heart.
