Hi I'm Lauren

I grew up in Memphis, TN and Mount Juliet, TN. I go to BYU-I as an elementary education major. Called to serve in Salt Lake West.

About Me

I love music. I love to sing, I love to play the piano, I love to play my French horn. I love to worship and praise the Lord through music. I go to school for elementary education at BYU-Idaho. I love looking at the stars at night and imagining how vast the universe is. It makes me appreciate my Lord so much. I served a three-month long service mission in Nauvoo, IL as part of the Nauvoo Brass Band. After that, I put in my full-time mission papers and have been called to Salt Lake City West. I am now in the mission field and trying my best to bring others unto Christ and spread the gospel. I love sharing the gospel and am so grateful for this opportunity to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because I can't see myself as anyone or anything else. Nothing else is as complete as the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing else makes sense to me. My testimony was strengthened by an experience I had at the temple, or really, outside of the temple on the grounds. I was grieved because I couldn't feel the Spirit inside. The baptistry was so loud and busy that I couldn't focus. I then went outside in the middle of February in Nashville with wet hair, sat by the inactive fountain, and meditated for a few minutes. The night was silent, and I was crying. I realized I had distanced myself from the Lord. I sobbed because I couldn't feel His Spirit. Then, as soon as I was pleading to feel His presence, my newly baptized best friend came out of the temple and sat with me. She said she had been struggling to feel the Spirit tonight too, but as soon as she sat next to me outside of the Lord's house, we were filled with the Spirit and I had my comfort that I was seeking. I cried into her shoulder and she sang "How Great Thou Art" with me. That's my "conversion story."

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example every day. I live my faith by being a friend for others. I live my faith by singing. I live my faith by who I am and how I live my life.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Lauren
Temples join families together. Temples give people who are no longer living the opportunity to be baptized and sealed to their families. Temples give people on the earth the opportunity to be closer to the Lord and be sealed to their spouses and families. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Lauren
The Word of Wisdom is a revelation from God to Joseph Smith about the care taking of our mortal bodies. In this revelation is a list of guidelines set by the Lord. We as members of the Church use our free agency to make good or bad choices when it comes to the Word of Wisdom. That's why you find a variance from one member to the next. We believe that we are stewards of our mortal bodies, and it is our responsibility to overcome the natural man and treat our bodies properly. We believe that our bodies are temples, and the Spirit of the Lord cannot dwell in an unclean place, which is why we take good care of our bodies. Show more Show less
