Hi I'm Brittany

I am a wife and mother of two children. I am grieving the loss of my 3 month old son. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am proud to be married to my wonderful husband and a mother of two beautiful children, one on the other side of the veil. I work with children with special needs and have my college degree in Human Development. My life goal is to raise awareness about metabolic disorders and set up a foundation in my son's honor to help other families and fund research. In my spare time I enjoy running and most outdoor activities; especially snowshoeing! I ran track in college and enjoy opportunities to coach youth athletes. I ran the Olympic Torch during the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics Torch Relay.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church when I was 18 years old. My first exposure was from my high school friends that were members and would teach me little by little. When I went to college I was excited to start my own life outside my families home but was nervous about the pressures that youth often face. When I was filling out paperwork for college I listed my first choice of dorms to be a tobacco and alcohol free building. What I learned when I arrived is that it was the building that Church members gravitated to when they came to this particular campus mainly for it's higher standards. I was the center of attention on my dorm floor because I was the only nonmember of the Church. I would come home from class to find a sweet scripture on my door or a plate of cupcakes. I enjoyed going to Church with my friends and especially loved taking the discussions with the Missionaries. While many gospel principles were difficult for me to comprehend I could feel the spirit when I was taught and knew that it was true. I continue to live the gospel because the principles it teaches about Families. I love each and every page of the Book of Mormon and believe it is a marvelous addition for us to live more fulfilled lives. As our family grieves the loss of our second child, we find extreme amounts of comfort in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have had several different callings since I have been a member of the Church. I especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School to the youth of our ward. Although it was a challenge, it was an amazing opportunity to learn gospel principles and stories as I studied the scriptures regularly to teach my class. I find immense amounts of joy in providing assistance to sisters in my ward. One of my favorite activities is participating in service projects. I have had the opportunity to take ideas from our service and incorporate them into the community and my place of employment. My family loves attending Church activities. We enjoy opportunities to go to the Temple with our ward family.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Brittany
I believe with every fiber of my being that my family is eternal. My husband and I were sealed in the Temple so that our family can be together even when our physical bodies leave this Earth. I live this principle everyday with faith, especially since the death of my infant son, from a rare metabolic disorder. Show more Show less
