Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a bookworm, a Winterguard fanatic, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, but moved to Ohio the beginning of my junior year of High School. I am the oldest of seven, and am currently serving a mission for my church in Seattle Washington, speaking Russian. Before my mission, I attended Brigham Young University, studying Sociology. I hope to go into International Humanitarian work someday and travel the world helping people. My favorite color is yellow, and I adore sunflowers and giraffes. I love to play Ultimate Frisbee, and often join pick-up games when I see them, but I love to be outdoors doing just about anything. Also a pianist, I love to play songs that match how my day has gone. My sister says she always knows how I'm feeling when I play- sometimes it's a little loud! I'm a voracious bookworm and read about anything I can get my hands on; classical or modern. I love people in general, and like to make new friends. It is my personal opinion that a smile and a 'good morning!' are the friendliest things in the whole world. My general life attitude is that everything is an adventure and ought to be cheerfully celebrated!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members, so I was born into the LDS church. However, at the age of about 12, I began to question whether my parents had taught me the right way. Through the next few years, I slowly began to ask God about the different beliefs that my church had. The Spirit spoke to my heart every time I asked and I began to gain a testimony that the Church was indeed true. I also began to cultivate my personal relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ through reading my scriptures and prayer every day. That relationship brings joy into my life every single day. I am a better, kinder, ridiculously happier person because of my conversion.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving an 18 month mission for my church. I've been called to serve in Seattle, Washington, speaking Russian. My mission is the culmination of many, many small decisions I've made to try and live by what I know is right. I know the importance of reading my scriptures every day, and it's amazing to me how God can give me, or anyone else, an answer to any question I have through a scripture. I pray every day, morning and night. I really try to just talk to God and tell him everything that's in my heart. He really is my best friend. I know He can do anything, and trusting in that has given me so much comfort through my life. I'm so excited to serve the people of Seattle, especially those who need the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Russian. I want to help them come closer to Christ and feel his love and the healing he can bring to any wound. In the process of serving, God is also making me into a more loving, selfless person.
