Hi I'm Emily Stephens

I was born in Connecticut. I'm in college at Brigham Young University and still have a lot to learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University, originally from Connecticut. Currently an English major, I have a passion for stories and people. I love theatre as well--I was in a show here at BYU last semester and had the most wonderful, instructive experience. Some of my favorite things in the world are the smell of the ocean, trees, a good book, and nutella.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because being a member of the church has brought happiness to my life. My belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ changes me everyday. It fills me with hope and saves me from fear. When I am anxious or worried, I can turn to Christ. I believe that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God; I feel close to God when I read it. Because of my experience with Christ and with God through the Mormon church, I believe it to be Christ's restored church upon the earth.

How I live my faith

At BYU, I am a member of a student ward. I get the opportunity to be a part of a spiritual community with people who are the same age as me, which is amazing. In my ward, I teach the girls in my hall in my dorm once a month. It is an uplifting experience to study doctrine and then to humble myself enough to teach it to my friends. I love learning how to invite the spirit to the class and helping others understand the doctrine.
