Hi I'm Julien

I am a Filipino. I'm serving a mission. I choose to be happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy being outdoors, playing soccer and tennis are my favorites I LOVE music! I play the guitar and the ukulele whenever I can. I went to Brigham Young University before my mission. I am currently serving as a missionary in the Philippines for the next two years of my life. I am the first missionary in my family! I believe there are the "cup is half empty" and the "cup is half full" kind of people. I see myself as more of a "cup is always full" kind of person even if it is half water and half air. I think you have to make the best with what you have to work with in life! You need to breath air, right? I believe that if you focus too much on what you don't have then you'll become more dissatisfied with life than you should be. If you want to be happy, you need to focus on what you do have, even if you can't see it at first, like the air in the cup (unintentional metaphor) :) I really do love life. One of my favorite scriptures is 1 Thessolonians 5:16: "Rejoice Evermore" because there is so much to rejoice for if you just look in the right places. I rejoice in blessings I have, I rejoice in the peace-bringing knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I rejoice in the work I do as a missionary serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born in the Church, I had to become converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ to truly begin to feel the peace and joy that had become so precious to me in the difficult times. I realized when I was in my late teens that I needed to find my own conversion in order to become the man I need to be. Through much work in reading towards finding out for myself if this church was true and by exercising faith in the power of prayer, I came to know by the power of the Holy Ghost that this is the true church and that the Book of Mormon is a true record, another testament of Jesus Christ. Because of the Church I see the trials and tribulations in my life as great opportunities to grow. I do not resent the challenges I face...as much... because I've learned that without them I would not be the man I am today and I would not be as close to my Savior. I believe that challenges are important parts of our lives because it helps us to remain humble and reminds us that when we turn to God He will strengthen us, even bring us up, to be able to overcome our adversities. One of my favorite scriptures is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 for this reason.

How I live my faith

I served as a full-time missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Philippines. In the Philippines I "invited others to come unto Christ, by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end." (Preach My Gospel pg. 1) I live my faith now through daily scripture study, fulfilling my calling as a ward mission leader, and trying my best to endure to the end. I know I've made mistakes, so I am thankful to have the atonement of Jesus Christ in my life.
