Hi I'm Thomas Nilsen

I was born and raised in Southern California. I play baseball. I love the beach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well hello! My name is Thomas. I have been a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. My parents have always taught me what is right, and I consider my mom and dad to be my heroes and role models. I also have learned quite a bit from my three sisters. I've constantly been surrounded by wonderful examples my whole life. I've tried to model my life after the examples that I have always had, and I thank them so much for the great help that they have been to me from the beginning. I've completed one semester of college. Like most other freshman, I haven't quite decided what I'm going to study yet. I was thinking about going into Exercise Science and studying to become a dentist, but after taking a chemistry class my first semester, my mind has now been changed! I'm going to continue to take general education classes until I decide what I want to do for a profession. I enjoy spending time with my friends as much as I can. I absolutely love playing all different kinds of sports (what can I say, my first word as a baby was "ball"), and enjoy competing against others. I enjoy following the MLB (Go Angels!), college football, and soccer (Barcelona!). Currently, I am serving a mission for the Church in Argentina. It's pretty tough to be away from all of my family and friends, but I know that what I'm doing is right and that I will be able to make an eternal impact for generations to come.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, the simple answer to this question would be to say: "I was born and raised in the church, so that's why I'm Mormon." But for me, it's more than that. Yes, I was born and raised in the church, but that's definitely not the reason why I am a Mormon. I'm a Mormon for many different reasons. I have more sense of belonging. I have more happiness in my life. I have more direction and guidance. I have a purpose in my life. Obviously, there are so many more reasons why I am Mormon, but I can't possibly begin to think of them all. All I know is that I am blessed beyond measure for my decision to be a Mormon. What it all really comes down to though is one distinct reason: I am a Mormon because I am confident and know that it is right.

How I live my faith

I live by faith by sharing my faith. I am a full-time missionary, dedicating two years of my life to share what I believe with the people of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I hope that through my service, I can help at least one person be able to feel the joy that I feel in my life. I hope to be able to open at least one person's eyes to the truth. I hope to be able to change at least one person's life forever. I try everyday to live how my Heavenly Father would like me to live. I do my very best to be a shining example to all those around me. I work hard, choose the right, and do the things I know that I should be doing in life. I strive dilligently everyday to live as Christ lived. I am nowhere near perfect, but I know that as I follow Christ's example, I can continually improve. I try to have charity for all those that I come into contact with, and I pray that somehow, through the way I live, someone else's life can be changed for the better.
