Hi I'm Sister Sage

I am a full-time missionary serving in the Brazil Ribeirao Preto Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I'm 18 years old and the most exciting thing in my life right now is waiting for college acceptance letters to come in April. I am planning on attending New York University by the fall term, hopefully as part of the Global Liberal Studies Program. The goal right now is to graduate from my high school in June and get ready for the independent life. I live with my two parents, seven brothers, and one sister-all biological. I love reading, playing soccer and violin, and watching tv and movies with the family. My favorite subjects are social studies and english, but I figure teaching is always a good back up plan. I have been told I'm going to do great things in this life, so I absolutely cannot wait to see what life has in store!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have received a testimony that miracles happen here on the earth. If they did not, then I would not be on this mission to Brazil. Almost four years ago, I sat on a bench in the Sacred Grove (where I believe Joseph Smith had a vision of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to mark the return of Christ's full doctrine to the earth) pleading with God for guidance in face of a highly uncertain future. His answer of overwhelming peace came to me with strong conviction to my heart and mind in the words of a hymn: "Fear not, I am with thee O be not dismayed. For I am thy God and will still give thee aid. I'll strengthen thee, Help thee, and cause thee to stand Upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand." Looking back at this experience, I have seen the Lord's Hand in my life as He has kept His promise. I know that He answered me that day and that God answers every sincere prayer of the heart! By small and simple things - often times I have not understood- He has wrought a mighty change in my heart. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I have better understood what the Lord would have me do, and the greater blessing is that I more fully desire to fulfill His purposes. I am not perfect, but I testify that His miracles on the earth are often fulfilled by the honest hands of His servants. I want to help others to feel the same joy I have felt through service and this knowledge. I know the hands by which I have been delivered from my bondage, trials, and tribulations. And I know that He will still deliver me. I have nothing left to fear, for I have an assurance that He is with me. What bears His name cannot fail. If we will only believe in Christ, then we can perform and will receive mighty miracles in this life and in eternity. I testify that these things are true. By studying the doctrine of Christ in The Book of Mormon, the Spirit can and will testify of the truthfulness of these things, even of all eternal truth. He answers His children's call.

How I live my faith

I love the church, and the gospel has become a central part of my life. I try to live in such a way that my leaders can count on me to be a good example. I am a young woman in the youth program a
