Hi I'm Maddie Thorup

I'm a photographer. I'm a volleyball player. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Maddie. I grew up in Michigan and moved out west when I was about nine years old. I play volleyball for my school and club team. I'm only a practice player for club since their tournaments are on Sundays. It's a definite sacrifice but I know it's worth it. Also, I'm a photographer. Not a pro yet, but I'm looking forward to art school after my last two years of high school are complete. I also love to camp, fish and hike with my Dad. Always a good time. For music, I play the piano, guitar, and ukulele. I love it. The ukulele is my newest obsession and I love picking apart songs to play (especially hymns on Sundays).

Why I am a Mormon

Why not!? I feel blessed to know He loves me and that my ward family is there to help me when I need it. I love the feeling of the Holy Ghost and I always want to have it with me. I know that He loves me and is always watching over me and that he wants me to be successful and also the best I can be. And I know I can be my best self by following his teachings. Funny how that works! I love it! I know that if I have faith and trust in Him, my prayers will be answered. My prayers might not be answered exactly when I want them to, but they WILL be answered. Being a high school student, I'm often surrounded by the choices and actions of my friends. And it would be easy to just go with the flow and do what they do but I have the bigger picture! By having a knowledge of the Atonement, I can look past all of the trends or obsessions that my friends seem to consume. A way I can look past all of that is by doing Personal Progress. Talk about a testimony builder! I enjoy spending time reading the scriptures and completing the goals given because I know that it will only make me a stronger person. Another testimony builder for me is reading the scriptures. As a youth group, we read the Book of Mormon in twenty four hours. It's funny how you can be taught about something your whole life and as soon as you read it, the stories almost become personalized. I was able to find verses that were so personal to me, I have never felt the spirit so strong! The scriptures, Atonement, Personal Progress, and the Holy Ghost are only a few of the reasons why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by giving service through ward/youth service projects, babysitting, helping people move, and helping with eagle projects. Also, by being a student, my example to my teachers and friends is another way I live my faith. I know that if I make good decisions then I will be respected by my teachers and friends.
