Hi I'm Tyler

I live in Colorado and grew up in Northern Utah. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ all my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up a member of the Church and have relatives that were converts to the church. I enjoy the great outdoors. I love to ski, camp, hike and be in nature. I am a young father and like most, challenge with balancing time between work and family.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I too, had to come to know of the beliefs and practices for myself. I have always believed and recognized the goodness of the Church, and in high school my beliefs were questioned. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and there came a day when I knew by the Holy Ghost it was true. Each time I read Joseph Smith's experiences I feel the the Holy Ghost testifies of the truthfulness of him being called to be a prophet. The more I study the scriptures the greater my understanding of God's love for us as His children. He lives and is concerned for us, I know it. He sent His son Jesus Christ to earth to atone for our sins. I know He is my Savior and love Him for what He has done for me.

How I live my faith

In my ward I work with the youth. I am a scout master, the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is very committed to the Boy Scouts of America organization. My responsibilities include helping 12-18 year old young men succeed in scouting, we go on overnighters, work on merit badges and rank advancement. Along with those scouting activities I teach every third week in my ward these same young men in part of their Sunday meetings. I am an active participant in the Western Colorado BSA Council. I serve along with many other religious and community based Boy Scout troops. I have organized and carried out a council wide rendezvous. It was a lot of work but a great opportunity to work with great people. The greatest opportunity for me however, is be with my family. even though life gets crazy sometimes, I love spending time with my family. I have two daughters and each Monday night we have what is called Family Home Evening, where we come together as a family. We start with a hymn and a prayer, then have lesson about Jesus Christ then an activity with the family and end with a treat and prayer. This is one of the highlights of our week. I think if my daughters could have their way they would have family home evening every night and sometimes we hold them several times a week as time permits.
