Hi I'm Vi

I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, and 5th grade school teacher! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I come from a family of 9 brothers and 2 sisters. I am the oldest of the eleven children to two wonderful parents who have been married now for 55 years.I have been married to my high-school sweetheart for 29 years. Together we have one son, four daughters and three grandsons. After 24 years, I returned to school to finish my Bachelors Degree and earn my Teaching Credential. I currently am a 5th grade school teacher and loving it! My goal was to always go back to school and become a school teacher. I felt it important to be home with my children and as they began leaving the home and getting older I was ready to return to school. With my husband and children's support, I was able to accomplish my life goal/dream. I love teaching, especially children. I have a love of learning and know and value that learning is a life long pursuit. My hobbies include: staying in shape; running, swimming, riding my beach cruiser, making baby quilts, playing the piano, scrapbooking, and beautifying my home. My most favorite thing to do is be at the beach!

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I have been a member of the Mormon church all my life, I had to develop my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel for myself. As a teenager, I prayed with a sincere heart to know if the Church was true. By the power of the Holy Ghost, the Spirit testified to me that yes the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true! I believe in living prophets as well as those who have passed from the beginning of time (Adam, Noah, Daniel, etc). The Lord continues to speak to His children through the voice of His prophets. I am grateful to have a prophet on the earth today even Thomas S. Monson who leads and guides me in the ways that my Heavenly Father would want me to live. Getting an education and having a family are two things that prophets have counseled me during my lifetime. I have been richly blessed by following their counsel. I know my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ love me. I feel of their love daily as I pray and read the scriptures. I remain faithful to my religion because of the truthfulness of it and the commitment I have made to always remember Jesus Christ and to keep His commandments.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in the Church with my husband as he is a Bishop of a congregation of Young Single Adults ages 18-30. We hold Family Home Evening groups each Monday evening either at our home, other members homes, or at the Church building. We are busy with many activities with them from dances, firesides, temple trips, community service projects, sporting events, dinners, and visiting the members of the congregation. In addition, I am a Visiting Teacher where I visit with other women of my faith each month. I have a companion and we share a spiritual message and spend time getting to know and develop relationships with one another. In addition, I am a Sunday School Instructor teaching the Temple Preparedness Class that helps people prepare to enter the temple for the first time. I enjoy helping my husband with his family history and spending as much time with our children and grandchildren.
